Title: New CX 90 and 150 question
Post by: Brianlocal3 on December 31, 2013, 06:59:00 PM
Currently i am shooting some 30 1/2 CX 90 (old stock .523) with 145 up front out of my 47lb american semi-longbow.  CX has changed their spine ratings and the new stock is .588 spine, and was wondering if Ill be able to get these to work.
Im thinking by cutting down ill be able to do it, just trying to check in on some of ya'll who have them and what your shooting them from.
thanks.

I know i can make the new 150s work, I'm just looking cut down the shaft some and thinking i might be able to get to 28" BOP with the new 90s

I like lighter arrows, I also like the 9/32 of the 90s.
I have some beman centershots .400 that with 175 and 75gr insert tune up real nice is just do not like the 568 grains.

Brian, you mentioned 'new 150's'. Did the 150's change spine too?

I didn't see where you listed your draw length.  If you can cut down as far as 28", I would think you can make them work.  2 1/2" less shaft makes a big difference in stiffness.

Joe,
150s are .495 now.

Xtrema, I only draw 26" so I have lots of cutting room.

From what I can see by your list of draw weights and bows you have, you have a 26-27" draw ? If you cut down the 90's they will work, just take your time when cutting.

Carbons can become I beam stiff real quick when you get them to a certain length. Be careful and cut 1/4" - 1/2" at a time or you just might be sorry......  :scared:  I would bet that only 1" would get them back where you need them. Depending on how much you need to cut off and where your fletching is you might be lucky enough to slip the nocks out and cut 1/4-1/2" off the rear and not have to fool with the insert end......

I was figuring so, but with the new 90s almost a .600 iwas skeptical.
My Morningstar is 50@26 and it bareshafts a beman ICS hunter .500 at 28 1/4" with standard insert and 175 up front perfect,
I like shooting 175 as I have a lifetime supply of those Broadheads laying around.

Ill just order a couple of each and give her a go.
