Title: Christmas trees
Post by: Roadkill on December 26, 2013, 03:29:00 PM
Just a reminder:
If you see artificial trees in the trash-pick them up for making your blinds.  singly or in tandem, they can turn an open oak hillside into a fine ground blind.

Discarded live trees:  take off the tinsle and pile them on a pallet or two to make small game homes.  Increase your rabbit and quail populations.

They make great winter shelters and Wonderful Bonfires when you are done also.

I like your ideas better though.

We at our club used these trees for our youth , setting them in front of regular targets and put clothe ornaments and items for the kids to shoot at. Made for a fun time.i like the idea of using them as a backdrop for ground blind.

You can use the branches to tie to your treestands to camo them up too.

I like the idea of a blind/habitat.

Oooooh thanks for the idea! We usually grab a bunch up to feed our goats but I may have to save a few for habitat now, hadn't thought of that.

I always gather a bunch of discarded Christmas trees to freshen up my brush blinds.

Or wire a bunch together, weight and sink in the pond for  fish cover.  Don't tell anybody where they're at and then outfish your buds. Of couse the riff-raff I fish with ain't above throwing right over you if you're catching all the fish, lol!
