Title: Need wild turkey feathers ground....who is the go to now?
Post by: highpoint forge on December 21, 2013, 08:22:00 PM
Been hunting too much and offline for a good long while. I have several wings worth of feathers and would like them ground. Feel like building arrows again.

Who is a reliable and expedient processor these days?

Thanks in advance!

Hey Bisch. I'll just send him the wings complete. These have been frozen forever.

Got him! Thanks guys. Any of y'all use a bandsaw to zip the feathers off the wings or clippers? I think I used my mini-bandsaw last time back in 09.?!

Just reach up to the base of the quills where the primaries feather begins and snip them off with a good dike style electrical cutter. If you pull off all the small thin feathers that cover the base of the quills with your fingers first you can see the base of the quills and know right where to cut. We can do a wing in 1-2 minutes and put them in a ziploc for shipping.

I'm sure Matt already told you, but you will need to cut the feathers off the wing and send them to him! Like mentioned above, I just use a good pair of wire cutters and put the feathers from each wing in separate labeled bags.

I use clippers to cut mine off the wings.

Matt does a great job, I have a bunch I have to use up that he did for me      :)

Save those bones for wingbone calls!!

Are you fellows talking about the Magnus Broadhead Company to whom you send the Turkey feathers? Thanks.

Tony,
Magnus is the name of a TG member , not the broadhead company.
