so i am shooting a 50#@29"recurve as in my sig and have been shooting 2018 alum for quite a while with no issues then ordered some GT 55/75 and loaded them upfront with 100gr brass inserts and a 175 gr head and they weigh up at 618 grs and fly great and i love loading weight upfront so i been interested in easton FMJ and ordered some but a buddy gary hall on here let me use a easton axis 400 and i am getting tail right like too stiff of an arrow but love the way they shoot but am so frustrated i have a dz ordered from him D@M arrows and boy are they ever sweet looking for he sent me a preview of them now this issue starts :(
i also have 75 gr inserts in arrow and tried both a 125gr pt and a 175gr on both and also a 340 spine arrow still same thing
How long are the arrows?

I would think they are stiff but I'm no expert. Mine are 29 with 350 total up front. That's from a 55# r/d longbow. I know shelf cut to center may change things but I would add some more weight to see what happens.
Will do I can't get more than 75 grain inserts though
What kind of strike plate material are you using?
The Easton 340 are going to be stiffer than the 400, that is assuming they are same length. If your new arrow s have not been cut yet, then leave them longer than the 29" that your friend has.. I would say pick your weight that you want up front,start out with arrow longer such as 30.5.. then shoot to test arrow flight, while cutting arrow off 1/4 inch at a time.. granted it may be a pain having to run back in forth to local archery store to get them cut, but it could save lot of money in the long run. Because every 1/4 you cut off a carbon, the spine gets stiffer very quickly and it can take a lot of weight up front to get it back to a softer spine.

I shoot a 49@25 Tall Tines but pull 25.5" and shoot FMJ 500's cut to 26.5" with 75 gr brass inserts with 175 gr tips and they bare shaft great. I also use a 100 gr brass inserts with a 9/32 145 gr field point so they will pull out of the target easier. You can buy the 100 gr brass inserts at 3 Rivers but you can also try a 200 gr tip which would be like putting a 100 gr brass insert in. A 500 with the standard insert or a 50gr brass insert may work better for you.
Okay I will try it and see I am gonna plan on putting the weight forward because the arrows are cut to 29" already so I have really no choice
Axis .400s spine at about 80# using the old method of 2# weight suspended between two posts 26 inches apart. So unless you load up the front end, or build out the side plate, or both, they're going to be too stiff for your set up.

We talked on phone and got it covered still groups good just has that little tail right going into target...we talked and I will just add a little more weight forward but this arrow is a east on axis 400 when my FMJ get here I might be good cause there a little more heavier..I HOPE
I think they will be a little skinnier too and that will help.
The lesson here? DON'T cut new arrows before you tune them to the bow...

Measure twice, cut once.
A little Saran Wrap around the insert will keep in in there shooting into just about any target. Then you don't have any hot glue of any kind keeping your epoxy from getting a good grip.

Sell them and have him make you some more. There is always someone out there looking for a deal and it is worth a little loss of $ to get what you need.
You can make em work, but will never be happy...at least I would never be happy if they were mine and not just right.
If your bow is cut past center, the 400's would be the right choice. If not, you are probably better off with the 500's
