I am looking to hear from those of you who have hunted moose in Alberta or Newfoundland. If you did a moose & black bear combo hunt even better. Planning a hunt for 2015 with my father. Any information/opinion is appreciated.

I have been to Newfoundland twice for moose, caribou and black bear. Multiple animal hunts with the bow is difficult on 7 day hunts. Bear hunts are usually secondary animals or if you happen to 'stumble' upon one while going after moose. On both of my hunts I never saw a bear.

If your going to Alberta consider the Birch Mountain area , little pressure and big moose . It's about 85 + miles Northwest of Fort McMurray . Best advice I can give is be there the last few days of Sept. and the first few days of Oct. After checking kill dates and size of moose killed it proved that Oct. 1st was the day to be in the woods. Good luck and enjoy the time with your dad .

So can you purchase a moose hunt and then last minute bear hunt if you tag out early?

I did a ten day bowhunt this year in Alberta. Very tough. Between my wife and iI we saw 2 moose. No shot opps. Our dates were Sept.25th to Oct. 5th. Did 30 calling setups.
