Title: A story of Pigs and Peanut butter
Post by: BigJim on December 17, 2013, 12:39:00 PM
For those that don't know, I'm located in the peanut and peanut butter capital of Georgia. Can't make a drive in the country with out seeing evidence of old or new crops. I'm sure that this lends itself to the quantity of fat pigs we have here also.

Now the pigs I speak of are wild boars and not fat boyers although I can also be seen frequenting a jar of peanut butter. Oh yeah, my wife can call me a fat pig and I might call me a fat pig, but I would hope that you wouldn't.

Anyway, a good friend of mine and I have a big lease full of these pigs that think they are pretty smart. I have news for them! No self respecting pig can resist the "Peanut Butter".

My friend "Preacher" (and yes, he is a real Baptist preacher) and I have been setting stands and lights for quite some time. The pigs visit, but seldom during the day light.
NO problem, now that the deer season is waning and the weather is cool, it is time for a surprise.

This week, we will be adding 55 gal barrels of peanut butter to most of our stand sights that are also equipped with lights for night time hogs.

Still no guarantee, but it is certain to consolidate them nearer to where we want them.

There will be more on this as time goes on including pictures.

What color light do you use? White, red, yellow? I would think heat lights are out, don't want to melt the peanut butter...or do you?

Good luck Jim, been using peanut butter myself for years with good luck. I do usually add salt as a consumption limiter. I also like smearig it in the bark of trees(they have to spend lots of time to get it all).

I had a similar discussion the other day on whether or not deer would eat peanut butter. It's illegal to bait here in Tennessee of course but I was just curious. Sounds like a good idea though!  :campfire:

Ha ha. Ok big jim. We need MAJOR clarification here. Are  these 55. Gallon drums of PB. OR 55 gallon drums with PB in them? Major difference. #2. If it's a 55 gal drum of PB.  WHAT DOES THAT SUCKER WEIGH? And how much is shipping to colorado? Or if I buy more arrows. Does the PB COME FREE  with purchase of a few doz?

That's a lot of P butter Jim. Do the pigs squeal when they can't get the PB off the roof of their mouth?     OK so it wasn't that funny!  Good luck to you both and have a blast.

I've used peanut butter for deer once, a long time ago. We just used a 1# jar screwed to a tree. The deer loved it and it was funny watching them contort themselves to get the last bit out of the bottom of the jar.

I bet if your pigs find it, you will be whacking quite a few soon after!

Good luck,

Bisch

First off, yes it is 55gal drums full of peanut butter...about 400lbs +-. I have done this before, but last year we were unable to get any so we had to be creative.

couple years back, we froze a barrel and cut it in half. THis made it easier to get through the swamp and out to a couple of baits. I had a camera on the barrel set to take pictures too often. It almost appeared to be a video as a porker pushed this 200lb barrel around in circles with his snout. I was no where in site to protect my peanut butter.

Barrels are clean out from when the plants shut down the line. Nothing wrong with it and We are purchasing it for about $75 per barrel.

Sounds resonable, but I have seen pigs decimate an entire barrel in 3 days. They ate the cardboard barrel and only left the metal rings...the rings even had teeth marks in them.

I have used white lite in the past and they worked great except that I believe the bigguns shy from it to a certain degree. I had a whopper!!! ( I believe over 400lbs) come in last Feb. He avoided all but the edge of the light but he did give me a shot. No doubt a dead pig, but I made the mistake of baiting them in their sanctuary. I followed blood for 30 yards and when he shucked the arrow, the blood stopped. Problem was I was already nearly crawling due to the thickness of the brush. Unfortunately never found.

This year we are using red lights. I have been getting some pics, but not many pigs over 250-300lbs. We have only been using corn....the PB will get them running.

Most of this year is for tweaking set ups and checking out the property. We are planning on offering pig hunts in the future and brother have we got em.

It can be difficult to not eat all the bait. Specially if I remember to bring some milk and jam. Put it all on a tortilla and you have breakfast of champions...or at least a bowyer.

This is fun and I ain't even shot yet!

Jim,
I've had good luck with a red Sniper Hog light (very bright) on my bow.  If they are startled & run off from the light, I just keep my light on the target area (ie...Peanut Butter in your case) and most of the time they will come back.  The bigger the group the better it has worked for me.  I'll be back in Aiken right after Xmas.  Our lease is down toward Charleston.  Very convenient as I can fly fish for redfish during the day and hog hunt late afternoon.  Dang this retirement is OK  :)   tippit

I'm sure pigs won't magically apear where they have never been....well probably not. But if they are near, they will be here.

Before I had ever set foot on this property of about 1200 acres, my friend "Preacher" had told me of pig rubs on trees nearly waist high. I called him out on that as he is about the same height as me. I asked him if it was alright for preachers to fib.

Then I saw it for myself. He invited me in for a morning hunt back in January. On the way to our scheduled meeting spot I was following a dirt road  with some fresh tracks in the mud when I crossed a set of pig tracks that were absolutely amazing. The tracks were nearly as big as a softball. I was awe struck...or dumbstruck over there size. Later, we found some of the mud rubs Preacher had spoke of. I stood next to one and the top of the mud on the tree was 3"s below my belt and I am 6'3" barefoot or is it bear foot.
WE later god trail camera pictures off a feeder site of 12 pigs and not more than two were under 200lbs.

The neighboring farmer had a night hunting company (infared night scopes and gear) come in and in 2 months they took nearly 400 pigs yet we haven't seen any decline in there activity.

Gonna be a good winter!

Good luck Jim.

A friend told me of a corn liquor recipe for pigs that supposedly works great. Take a sack of corn in a 30 gallon drum with 10 pounds of halved apples, 7 packs of yeast and 10 pounds of sugar.   Once you have the ingredients in the drum fill with water to cover the corn. Place a lid loosely on the top and wait stirring the concoction every 2-3 days.  After 1 week add 5 more pounds of sugar and 3 more packs of yeast. After another week you  will have several gallons of Apple corn liquor for the hogs.  My friend swears by this for hogs.

Just don't get caught by the "Revenuers".

Those are the pictures guys and thank you. One day, I will not only learn to figure out game cameras, but also be able to post the pictures on Tradgang.

Those are what I would call practice pigs..and they will make great eaters. The real hogs have just started to show themselves.
I got a call from my friend Preacher and he basically said if ya want to shoot some "fatties", you might aught to head this way.
Seems as the pigs had hit the butter the night before and the camera said 7:30-9:30 pm. I worked for a couple more hours and headed that way. I figured I would get on stand at 6:00. ON the way i realized that the camera was still set on daylight savings time and the pigs had really been there an hour earlier.
I hurried and got in the stand and waited. I know the pigs ain't got a watch, but typically later in the baiting, they tend to be pretty consistant on there times for at least a few days in a row.
Anyway, time came and went and no pigs. I tried taking a nap...not normally something I have to try to do, but wasn't happening.

Anyway, in an attempt to shorten the story, I left at 9:45 and the pigs came in at 10:15 argh&^%$&

I'll get you next time Porky!

BigJIm... D.Key, thanks for the recipe, I think I'll try it and set up a buffet fer them rascals.

Fortunately for me, the pigs are louder than i am while in stand sleeping!
Couldn't take it any longer so I knocked off early and went out tonight. Seemed a little slow and the camera showed that the pigs hadn't been there since friday night, but I think for them to miss a night is the exception and not the norm. Especially with the wonderful buffet I have prepared for them.

Anyway, they came in at about 8:30 pm and must have been 25-30 or more and always about a dozzen in the light. Some real fatties too.

There was this huge white pig that kept wallowing in the peanut butter...must be some kinky thing she got going on back in the pig private area. Every time I prepared to shoot, her vital was blocked by a sapling that no longer exists!

Finaly was given a good angle on a nice un about 250lbs and as I started to draw, my nock fell of the string. I barely caught the arrow with my finger as it tipped forward off the shelf. I need to put some more dental floss on the string as the nocks on my woodies are too loose. After recovering, I picked a spot and made what I thought was a beautiful shot. Pigs scattered but two remained so I nocked another arrow just so I could scare those last pigs off.

Unfortunatly, the blood trail was sparse and long. There was never a lot of blood and no pooling. He also never stopped. I figure I hit him high and probably only caught one lung. My broken Arrow did look good, but blood trail didn't. I will have to give it another look tomorrow, but meat will be bad by then.

enjoy some living pig pics while I work at getting some dead ones for ya. thanks, bigjim...when drew has time to post them..

this normally takes place between 5am and 6am.

this morning she must have felt sorry for me cause she went back to sleep for 30  min. when Ignored her advances.

Coon almost bought the farm! I could have stayed a little later and maybe the piggies would have made it in, but I'm exhausted with the late nights and the early moringings. If my dog wakes me early in the morning, I'm going to put her in the figure 4 leg lock until she submits!

Went in yesterday and camera shows three days in a row and they are some real big fatties...the biggest so far. Problem is there times vary a bunch.

Sat from 5:30 til 10: pm and no show. Going to try again in a couple days.

If I could get two or three days in a row, i'm sure It would happen as I have pigs on all sites just about every day.

Going to make it but must be patient.

thanks, bigjim

I think your right MikeNova. could put cushions on top and use them as furniture.

I know a guy who shot a hippo (along with 100s of other animals) that said he was going to use it as a dining room table. Glass on top, the mouth would open up to hold silver ware and a door on its side for plates but his wife shot down the idea.
I'm guessing he was either joking or planned on having it lying down.
He opted for a huge glass top laying on a  bed of elk antlers...SWEET!

Pork Chops, bacon...yummmy! Going to go back tomorrow or Tuesday...i hope.

I haven't tried the moonshine as of yet. It's nearly done brewing though and I'm going to start another batch right away. They will eat anything if you put it in front of them. Kind of hoping they could catch some of those corn robbing coons we have and eat them too!

all good...Happy happy happy,

Preacher called in a report earlier today. Damn pigs! The stand with the above pigs hasn't been hit in 4 days and no pressure???????

Another stand near by was hit 3 times yesterday and twice today before the rain. Late morning mid after noon and at dark...but no fatties.

One stand hit at 6pm ish for the last 4 days but no fatties.

This is the craziest year ever! I have never seen it so inconsistant. Gonna break out the "BIGJIMS corn mash whisky!" and the jello corn at the end of the week. Now you know why they are so fat.

Peanut butter going to their hams..
Corn whisky going to their bellies...
and jello corn going to their necks...

and before long, broad heads going to their heart!
(yes, I know I've been  saying that for weeks but I will stay the course).

hhhmmm mix the corn wiskey with the jello and they can do jello shots . This might lead to them being passed out at the feeder , ripe for the picking .

Ok, going to give it a go again tonight if I can get out of here early enough.
I've got the reports ....well at least one.

Apparently pigs have been coming into the "catapult" stand. I named this stand catapult because when I get in it, it's like loading a catapult...small tree being ridden to the ground by a big fat b***ard. At least it gets me closer to the pigs  :)
Anyway, as many as three separate groups of practice pigs coming in every day between 5:30 pm and 10:30 pm. Only one is over 175 lbs though.
                   Or
I could go to any of several other stands (pictures unknown at this time) where the big fatties have been photographed in the past...along with good eatin practice pigs too. Only not as regular as the catapult.

Me thinks it's more fun to wait for big fatty's as they are more worth the work that follows in the wee hours of the day....or do I.....   :dunno:

I was invited by a friend to come to his property to try "spot and stalk" in his wheat fields. When the hogs piled into the field, I looked at him and asked "Wich one do you want me to shoot?" He replied, "The closest one."

That is the best advice I have ever gotten!

Well, I have more pitiful news. I guess I could just type in here that I didn't see anything or maybe that I missed, but I fear that a lie would cause the hunting gods to frown upon my future opportunities.
Here goes: Stopped at the feed store on the way to the lease to buy another barrel of peanut butter and was informed that a durned Yankey from Ohio came down and bought all they had left! He got like 10-15 barrels...sooo I just picked up some more corn for making shine and went on my way to the lease.

At the Magnolia stand, I found that the pigs had been there around noon and also various other times during the 3 previous days. Mostly practice pigs, but also a couple of fatties. Through out a gallon of big jims corn moon shine and went on.

I really wanted to hunt stand #2 (that's where the pics posted here have come from). Several big fatties coming in from time to time. Upon checking the camera there, I found that pigs had been there three different times from 7:30 to 11:30 pm the previous two days. I threw out my "shine" at the feeder and clibed the tree. Now the tree I'm in at #2 is considerably bigger thant that of the catapult but heavy winds had me whipping around just the same. At 7:10 pm, the ground came alive with about 6-8 sizeable shadows and with the tell tale sound of grunting pigs I new it was about to begin. Most of them came in to the feeder and nobody noticed me turning up the light. Since they were calm, I just took a deep breath and waited for a good shot. A couple of times I drew but let down as they turned on me. Finally, I let loose and at the hit, they all scattered but the pig I shot. He actually turned around and came back in. I nocked another arrow and waited. He actually went back for a bit of shine and when he did, I drilled him again. Upon the second hit, he went to squealing and cork screwing tword me and then around my tree making a circle around me. I thought I heard him expire. Seconds later I thought I heard him trip and stumble forward. After about 45 minutes I got down..left my bow in the tree and went looking for sign. There were no arrows in the dirt (didn't miss with either). There was no blood anywhere either so I followed the trail I knew he too when spinning out of control. That is where I found my broken arrow (second shot) covered with blood and gut. I continued following the path he took but never found blood. Feelikng concerned, I headed back too my stand when I saw him/her. It was standing there in the trees rocking back and forth with his back to me showing no concern that I was trapsing around and shining a bright light on him. I snuck back and got my bow sure that I could get another shot just to put him out of his misery. When I found the pig again, it was laying down so I snuck in and hit the green light on my bow but the pig stood up and just sort of walked off not offering me a shot. I followed and got within 15 yards and MISSED! He just trotted a little and ducked in the bush so I backed off and got back in my stand. At 11:00, preacher and I went looking for him and ran into a couple of yote's. An extensive search last night and again this morning not only did not turn up a pig, but no sign other than on e broken arrow. The pig was about the size of the closest pig on my most recent pictures page 6 8:pm picture.

FRUSTRATED!, BigJim

Title: Re: A story of Pigs and Peanut butter
Post by: BigJim on January 18, 2014, 10:32:00 PM
BWD, I wish I could but it would take a big bow and arrow to staple these fatties to the ground.

Years ago I shot a piglet (15 lbs tops) and stapled it to the ground with a "BigJim" broadhead but then it began to run around in circles around the arrow until it worked it's way off and then ran off seemingly uninjured.
I followed the blood until I was thoroughly lost in the swamp in the dark (to this day I still haven't learned to use a GPS). Never found that one either.
I have fortunately found many more than I have lost but this year has been a set back                    on proficiency.

New report: Last night, Preacher, my Bear rep. Jeff and I went on the latest pig mission.
Winds were high, temp was low and expectations were in the middle. Preacher chose the Magnolia stand and upon his arival (about 5:15 pm) had a dozzen little piggies in the corn. Aparently there is no minimum drinking age for pigs as these little buggers ate every bit of the shine he had put out earlier that day. He was able to get within 1 yards but had no clear shot and they spooked off. A little later they came back and he attempted a shot, but didn't notice some small brush in the way. His arrow was deflected and Preacher described the hit as a butt spanking. Aparently, the arrow turned sideways and slapped the sow in the butt with the shaft...one more educated pig out there.

When Jeff and I aproached his stand, there were already about a dozzen practice pigs in and eating. we aproached and they spooked. I left Jeff behind and went to my stand. shortly there after, the piglets came back out and Jeff harvested a nice grilling size pig of about 40 lbs.

My stand was uneventful. Unfortunately I cannot post any pics of Jeff's pig as it was not harvested with Trad equipment although a very clean bow kill just the same.

More action to come....we hope.

There will be flying bacon then. Feb 2-9 for the big hunt.

Kirkll, the first time I sat in that stand was the first time in over a year that I had actually seen a deer while hunting in GA. Problem was I couldn't even move with out the tree shaking like heck. I unfortunatly spooked the deer and haven't been in there since.
Now however, we have the stand set so it can be shot from while sitting...course If i weren't so "husky" (nice way of saying fat a$$) it wouldn't have been a problem in the first place.

I know the feeling big guy. I have been trying like heck lately and nothing to show for it.

Result
2 stands and 2 feeders stolen.
three other feeders with cameras out and not a pig coming in the last 3 weeks. I have no idea where they went.
there is logging going on across the river. Don't know if they went over there to feed or if the heavy equipment noise scared them out of the area.

SL, I actually have a new shirt coming out this year but it doesn't have the catapult stand on it. I think it is pretty cool and hope it does as well as the shirt with Barbara hitting the moose in the but while she is shooting at me....Or something like that.
Manny and Drew are on the way and should be here in the Morn. We will scratch out a plan and I expect will be huffing peanut butter and "Pig Shine" by late afternoon.
I have a couple of new batches of shine in the making. I guess it is good as you can smell it for a long way and my dog seems to like it.

I predict someone will be elbow deep in hog guts by Monday...or sooner.

Yes!...two fatties...but they are in the same picture....that would be me and the blackie.

53# at 31.5" desert bighorn with vpa 3blade. Pig hit near last rib with exit hole in the crease on opposite side. Short recovery of about 50+- yards.

Black pig was about 250 lbs. estimated...but could get bigger as the story goes  :)  She will great eats.
(remember, if you don't know me, I am 6'3" and about 325 lbs...I can make some animals look smaller then they really are).

Manny's spotted peeg (that's french for pig) is a nice practice pig and hopefully just the beginning.

Preacher did not pick a spot and shot over a 200+ ...i will continue to harass him about that casue that's what we do.

Drew will get his chance tonight....and more for t he rest of us cept preacher casue he's busy savin souls today.

Manny shot ol' spottie at 12 yards with his 62# thunderchild and a BigJim 3 blade on the front of a GT blem. He was shooting from the catapult stand...funny he doesn't make it sway like I do.
The broadhead nearly split him in two and skinned and quartered him at the same time.

Even with a gaping hole that shone sun light through it, the pig was able to run, crawl and drag himself about 50 yards.

         _________________________

I had checked the camera at my stand (the hero stand) before settling in. I was a little down as there had been no pigs in there for three days.

After a little nap, and then text news from Manny,  some pigs entered the killing fields. I attempted to turn up the light over the feeder but the battery had died.
Fortunately for me and the rest of the group, I had outfitted us all with strap on lights for our bows.
A short flight later I had vindicated my self.

Oh what a night.
I'll let ya'll know more when we know more.
thanks, bigjim

As I sit here typing this, trying to keep my head up due to fatigue, I must say last night was very interesting...to say the least.
Wind was not exactly right, but these pigs will come in from any direction almost with no rhyme or reason so to say "I can't sit here cause the wind is wrong" is only a half truth.

Last night the betraying wind was so calm and our sites so sheltered that you have a tendency of a clouding and emanating effect. Ones scent just kind of settles around the ground and spreads out.

Everyone heard pigs last night, and preacher even encountered some tiny little baconettes while entering the Magnolia (common). But no one else but me laid eyes on the first porker bigger than a sandwich.

I put Manny on the catapult stand (his favorite) and made my way to the Hero stand. As I normally do, I checked the camera before sitting down...another malfunctioning device! There were only 3 pictures on the camera since I shot my pig three days earlier and they were all of me yet there was not a kernel of corn to be found anywhere (*no, I didn't eat the corn).

AS soon as I sat down in my stand, I began to hearing squealing in the not so distant area. Within ten minutes, two practice pigs entered to might right...they were on the menu...until mommy showed seconds later. She was a very nice black gal and similar in size to the sow I s hot Saturday night. Unfortunately my scent betrayed me and they were gone. Five minutes later, about 10 - 40 lbers come storming in from the same direction. Six went against their better judgement and came all the way in to the moonshine corn, 4 skidaddled. When I determined there was no larger pigs coming I readied myself for a shot. I thought I might line two up and skewer me a pair but my angle was steep and I saw no opportunity for such foolishness. Seconds later the arrow was off and so were all the little porkers unscathed ....but maybe a little wiser.

I settled back in thinking it might be over for the evening but not so. Within minutes I began to hear pigs in another direction withing 200 yards or so. They would get closer and then meander away. The whole time, they were making enough noise to wake the dead. There must have been a disagreement among them too as I have never heard such aggression. I could tell they were big and that it seemed as though they were knocking each other around...Hard! At dark, they set there sights on the feeder and came in fast and furious. They were so loud I couldn't hear my heart thumping. Their exhaling or blowing was as loud as there grunting. I was sure there must have been clouds of flying leaves and dirt surrounding them. ....and then silence... It seemed to be about 6 or eight of them, but I could hear them thinking at only 15-20 yards...what's that I smell? And with that, they were off. Even in there quiet retreat, I could almost feel their weight through the ground and up the tree I was in. Though my encounters were over for an evening, I was still reeling with excitement. I had just experienced the most intense moment of my hogging career even with no visual! I replayed every moment for my friends when we met.

Hopefully Drew will get to experience that tonight as I plan on putting him in the "Hero" stand. Until next time, BigJim

Another interesting night that ended with the quartering of a nice practice pig taken by French Manny. His details of the event were a little fuzzy but I can only imagine that is from sleep deprivation also.
Seems as it was a fairly long shot like 70 or 80 yards... he says...and it is a good thing that the pigs umbilical cord hadn't been cut yet as it got hung up on one of the pine trees during it's retreat and slowed it down preventing a long blood trail... :)  I may have embellished some of the details myself.

I myself went the first night without an opportunity...allowing me to catch on my "in stand" sleep a little.

Drew is still struggling on the pig front but there is always today.

BigJim pics later..after coffee

We are entering our final day of pig hunting. After Manny and Drew leave, my hunting will become very limited...even more so than it was before. It has all been much fun and have plans for improvements for next year.
Last night I encountered pigs at the feeder when I approached the Magnolia stand. There was only one practice pig in the group and the rest little pocket pigs. I slipped in closely for a shot and waited for a clear opening. Moments later the arrow was gone only to be deflected away harmlessly. After gathering my missed arrow, I climbed in to the stand and waited. Shortly after, the pocket pigs came back and obliterated my corn. I could hear what sounded like much bigger pigs only a few yards away, but they wouldn't show themselves.

A text from Drew informed me that pigs had narrowly passed by him but never came in for inspection. This happened a couple of times to him last night...he seems to have drawn the short straw for the week. About 8: pm I got a text from Manny that he had shot a fatty and would need help when i was ready. I had set manny on a stand that was relatively unused all season. There was no fancy baits there just corn and pig sign. Manny felt it would be a relaxing night but probably void of any pig encounters....just then while he was staring at the stars, he heard a freight train coming his way. About 9 pigs in various sizes bum rushed him and his feeder. He choose the biggest (I think he likes the smaller pigs better  :)  ) pig, clicked his bow light on and settled in for a shot. Just as he was releasing his arrow, he accidently clicked his light off and didn't see the arrow fly. He told me he heard a good thump though and Chops were on the menu. Unfortunately the only chops we would be offered smelled heavily of pine sap. Seems the heavy thump he heard was a solid broadside hit of a solid pine tree.

It has been a good week with Manny harvesting two pigs and missing one fatty and I harvested one fatty. Official score is 4 opportunities in five sittings for Manny, Preacher had two opportunity in two sittings, I had 3 opportunities in 5 sits and Drew has had one in five sittings.

With the last evening of our hunt nearly hear, there always exist s the possibility of a grand slam for the group. We will only know late tonight. BIgJim

I think Charlie captured most of our sentiments that know Drew. Never was there a more humble or giving person... so it's easy to have been pulling for him. As hard as he works and does for others, it'd be grand to see his ugly mug all grinned up over some big hog lying side ways.

But with what little I know of the man, he'll revel in the fortune of his bow mates and have still had a great time away from the pressures of daily life without a kill.

Still cheering for ole Drew!

It is time for the pug hunters to take a sabbatical. we finnished last night tired but satisfied. The rain came in and signaled the end. No pigs were harmed or even encountered last night but that didn't seem to dampen spirits any.
Manny and Drew hit the long road home around 10:30 and signaled the beginning to next years adventure.

I still have a couple of barrels of swine moonshine left and may give it a go a couple more times this winter but for now, it's back to building bows.

Thank ya'll for your support...even you Frisky, BIgJim

I've posted this before but I think it's such great information that I'll post it again.  I've shot many pigs over the years and have a hard time recovering more than about 50% of them.  They are tough and just don't bleed much.  I've hit them right in the 12 ring and still not found them and I'm a decent tracker.  I was over at Pat Byrne's home a few years ago and he mentioned that he had killed and recovered 32 pigs that year and had shot 33, finding all but one.  Pat is a great hunter and a great shot with a longbow but those are just amazing numbers it was hard to figure for me.  I looked over his equipment and couldn't tell much difference between his set ups and mine....until I got to the broadhead.  My heads are "shave sharp" and I had considered them very sharp until I inspected his.  They were simply amazing.  Nothing I have seen has been that sharp.  His system of sharpening and honing brought the edge to a place that I had no experience.  He said that this level of sharpness cut everything it touched and left blood trails and dropped animals (especially pigs) with amazing efficiency.  It really turned on a light in my head.  I still can't get my heads to the level he can but my understanding of what it takes to consistently shoot and find pigs has forever created a paradigm change in my hunting setups.

First I would like to say that I feel so blessed to have friends like Big Jim, his wife Barbara and brother Drew!
Drew is able to make the ride to Georgia feel like it is nothing more than a simple commute! We talked along the way of past hunts and the ones planned in the future!
We had the opportunity to see the Gentle Giant's shop, where the Buffalo bows and the Thunderchilds are made by hand, one at the time!

We shot Big Jim's 3d course and I was amazed by their shooting!
My hunting companions are great shots and great hunters!

Below is a picture of my secong pig I was lucky to kill:

I was sad when the hunt came to an end, but now I am looking forward to next year pig hunt!!!

To you my friends, a big thank you

F-Manny

There is Jim's wife Barbara then her sister and heart of the office Debbie who most folks talk to when ordering  and christina who helps get arrows made and helps set up for the upcoming shoots with Barbara . All these ladies work very hard to get everyone the things they need and want.
