I guess my new motto is "will work for bows".I traded John some bow finishing for a new bow.My new Bigriver,John`s copy of the 69 Super K with a twist. Made with phenolic & zircote, bamboo cores & buffalo horn tips. Shoots nice and looks cool too imo.

Nice! I had one for awhile, it was hanging on the rack at the Footed Shaft so Lamont and I made a deal, they are great shooting bows. Wish I still had it!

I'm not a big fan of phenolic....."BUT" that is just beautiful!!!!
I can't quit looking at this bow. I have a 68 superK that's been camo'd and has a delam crack, I need to get it stripped and fixed, I'm hoping it looks like yours under the paint.

That is a sweet looking curve!
Thanks all. It still is amazing to me a guy 85 years old can put together bows like John.
He is an amazing guy. He will be missed when he quits the craft. I think I need to do a story on him before he retires.
He is certainly slowing down, but the bows are still the same.
Hornhunter, I just need to drill some holes in the riser, pound in some inserts, grind on the handle a bunch & it will be just as nice as yours, ha!!
Brian,I see you well as a bowyer. :archer:
Great Looking Bow Brian.
I hope to one day own one of his SK's. Yours with the zircote is sexy.
I agree when John decides he's had enough, he will be missed.
OMG!! My darn eyes just popped outta my freaking skull. I gotta get one a those! A real want list Topper.
That is a great looking bow. I love my Big River bow. I am sure that will be a shooter.
Gorgeous!
That is a real beauty!

That is a nice one Brian. I hope I can leave some finger prints on it at the Sherwood shoot.
Beautiful bow, Brian. I love phenolic in a riser, and that one sure is a keeper.
Super, super nice!
I'm at a loss for words...that bow is absolutely awesome!!!
Greg, you guys can put her through the paces at Sherwood Forest. The thing is a shooter, not just a pretty face!! Thanks again everyone.
 :clapper:
super nice
Bigriver, would you know if John has some bows available for test shooting? I've been thinking about ordering a longbow from him...Thanks!

Give him a call, he usually has a few. Last time I was there I shot his personal longbow because the few in his shop at the time were too heavy for me.

just let me know when you want quiver inserts "installed" also I have a new plan for making it a 2 piece---should work but will do it on yours first. :saywhat:
Shopco, If you come to the shoot on Feb 1st at Sherwood Archers, Sussex you will see and get to shoot a lot of John's bows. I usually bring two Big River longbows myself - you're welcome to try them out.
Classy lookin'
Pete, thanks for the offer! I'll try to get there, sounds like a good time.
WOW!
That is cool!
That's a stunning bow Brian. John builds great bows, I've owned a bunch of fine longbows and John's are right up there with the best of them. In fact, the only bow I currently own is a Big River longbow.
Beautiful bow. John does great work.
Another beauty for ya Brian! Good luck with her!
old McDonald still doing great work. Awesome bow.
That's really a beautiful bow! Both my son (JJB) and I have '69 Super Kodiaks. One of the best production bows out there. This rendition is going to be another wonderful bow.

Right there with ya bro!
Triple Drool...ummmhumm...NICE!
The more I shoot this thing, the more I like it! I had a Bear SK for a while (stole it from Grendel for a few weeks), this bow just plain shoots better. It`s going to be hard not to hunt with it this fall.
Brian makes waiting for my longbow all the sweeter!

We need buckets to catch the drool!
Nice bow. Is it 60" or 64"?
I also have one of these, 62" of awesome shooting 58@28, It is really a special hearfelt experience knowing this bow was built by a man who has been around the block as long as John, he is truly a master.
Beauty!!!!!!!!!! I want one....
Hey Brian, That bow looks great, that is one of my favorite model Bear bows. I bet it shoots good too. I had a 59 replica John made years ago and it was pretty fast. It was only 45# or I would still have it.
I saw John at the WTA banquet and he looked good.
Congrats!
