Hello,
I just purchased my first trad bow, a samick sage takedown recurve. I was wondering if anyone had any reviews or experience with the bow? My goal is to be ready for next archery season here in Pennsylvania. I will be asking a ton of questions regarding set up and any advice would greatly be appreciated. I look forward to talking to everyone and thanks in advance.
Welcome to the forum Michael. Lots of guys start out with Sages and lots of guys keep on shooting them. I had one for a while and thought it was great value, up until the riser failed while I was at full draw. Scared the daylights out of me and luckily I wasn't hurt.
Again - lots of folks have good luck with that bow. I would never recommend one based on my experience. Be usre to check the screws that hold those limb pockets in place frequently.
Thanks! Will be sure to check them out. Is that where your bow failed? Thanks for the feedback and the welcome.
Welcome. Never heard one bad experience with them till just now. There is a review on it in the review page. Best of luck.

Thanks will check it out!
Welcome!
Thanks victory hunter!
Welcome indeed. I bought a Sage a couple of years ago an found it to be a great bow for the money and a good shooting bow as well. If you haven't already, I would suggest buying a good fast flight Flemish string for it. I'll help the performance a good bit.
Enjoy your new adventure. Shooting trad bows can be pretty addictive :-)
Welcome!!!
I started with one last year and still use it for bowfishing and to increase draw weight. I have 40 45 50 55 and 60lb limbs. I really think its a good shooting bow. It really helped me build up to a better draw weight for me. I cant afford 5 bows for that. Mine is braced at 8 1/4, and i would change to a FF string like mentioned. The stock string with mine was junk. They are quietbows, i wouldnt hesitate to take it hunting. Welcome, enjoy your new bow. Matt
Welcome from Florida!
Thanks so much for the welcome! I hope you guys don't mind me picking your brains regarding set up,arrows, broad-heads, etc. thanks again for the warm welcome!
Welcome. I too cut my teeth on a sage. Great starter bow. Killed my first deer with it. However mine also cracked in the riser and do be sure to check those screws. Mine seemed very easy to tune and made my entry to trad easy. Good luck. PS mine really Luke 10 grains per pound and a high brace height.
OH yeah feel free to pm me for any info I have. Not a pro but willing to let you know my experiences.
Thanks fastitz
Will be picking your brain for advice. Thanks again
I started with a sage and am still shooting a sage. very good bow for the money. as stated before by several others put a fast flight string on it. another suggestion i have is go with a two piece quiver, a one piece makes some noise but two pieces are fairly quiet on it. also upon tuning it, mine tends to like a little higher brace on it (around 8 1/2-5/8) but once it gets in the sweet spot its quiet and deadly accurate. i can shoot out to about 37 yrds accurately with it. unfortunately havent been able to do much hunting this year due to life events but i guess thats why it called life :banghead: ; but thats a whole different post.. the bow is a really nice bow, this winter after season i plan on doing some light modifications to it to hopefully make it a little bit better looking and more stealthy. Congrats on the new addiction and welcome to the fireside :campfire: if you have any questions dont hesitate to ask...everyone here is real nice and are willing to help. :)
