I have been trying a finger sling now and then. I made one out of leather the other day. My accuracy seems to be alot better with a finger sling. Has anybody else tried one? My only issue its seems would be using a finger sling is when I might need to cant the bow.ie tree limbs. Hunting? 3D? Any thoughts?
I have shot most ways you can shoot. I believe I know what you are speaking of.. if so, my personal thoughts are that anything you can do with a finger sling, you can do by touching your thumb and forefinger together. Keeping it simple is a really good rule to follow.

finger sling?
Got any pictures?
I tried them - too much fuss and no better support than a wrist sling which I like better. For my recurve bows with not much built in stabilizing I love them. My longbows do not fit slings as well due to handle design. My primitives.... not allowed !
I used to use one with my wheelie bow...
Roy, it is a double slip knotted string/rope. One tightens around your thumb, the other around your first finger. They are only 4-5 inches long.

If it is what I am thinking, it is essentially a bow sling that goes in front of the bow and hooks onto YOU, not the bow. It could hook up several ways, but It keeps the bow from jumping out of your hand with an open grip. So my response above was, close your grip. You don't have to touch your bow if you don't want to, just touch your thumb and forefinger together.

I started using one a while back and my arrows started improving instantly.. I figured out how bad i was troqueing my bow upon the shot... It is a pain in the rear to use while hunting tho.. So I now just hold my riser with little to no pressure...
If you can't get rid of the bow in case of a fall it could become a problem. Whatever you do it needs to come apart quickly.
Are you talking about a release aid? or something you use to insure you don't loose your bow while shooting with an open hand....You see a lot of Olympic shooters use these. I'm sure there is a distinctive name for each of them, but i can't come up with them....Kirk
Yes, they are like the olympic shooters. Shooting with an open hand. The one I made is out of leather.
I made one out of paracord and a couple pieces of plastic tubing. The tube makes the loops so you can put it on and take in off easier. I like them.
