Post by: rambo1993 on December 12, 2013, 02:59:00 PM
Well thinking of going a little more modern just for the simple fact of trying it so I'm thinking of going to the local archery shop and selling them the bear kodiak hunter I have it's in great shape said he'd give me $200 so I'm wondering how's the Martin jaguar with the newer better limbs all feed back is welcome I know they had problems but they've been worked out wanted to get a older Hoyt recurve which I'd still love to have but have had no bites if you do know of a older good condition Hoyt recurve please let me know I'd do anything for one haha so please help me out and let me know who has a Martin jaguar and what's the best setup I can do to make it awesome NO SIGHTS will be added to the bow

There is a Hoyt Desperado advertised in the *********** classifieds right now...you might want to take a look at it...I have a Desperado that came with the original brochure...they were only offered in 1996

If you plan to shoot the Jaguar instinctively, the flat shelf and deep center cut could be a problem. You would need an elevated rest unless you build out a sideplate and radius the shelf.

I once owned a jaguar and thought it was a pretty quick, good looking bow.  I was unaware that it was a compound riser until I opened the package.  I built a stacked leather pad to fur out the strike plate until it was about 3/16 past center.  It was about as good as a bow worth having should be.  It didn't stand out in anyway for me.  I would much rather keep the bear Kodiak. I don't wan't a cast aluminum, camo dipped riser bow that has the same look as a compound when all the "necessary" accessories are installed (7 pin sight, whisker biscuit, stabiizer).  I had mine for about 6 months, took it out shooting about 10 times and put it back in its case until I traded it for a ten year old #60 Bear Supermag.

Martin has a history of making metal riser recurves...I had a Lynx and only sold it to help a new shooter get started...as I recall it had very nice limbs...mine was 62 inches but I think there was also a 66 inch version
