If you know the size of your package, length width and depth you can get an estimate from the 2 companys.in the past the best rates were with USPS for me.I have not shopped a price at UPS in years thouggh and had a few bad experiences with them and did not go back.
with USPS make your package as small as pssible allowing for padding at the ends though. They charge a baloon rate for packages over a certain size.I would recommend insurance and delivery confirmation for something as valuble as a bow.Should cost you about 20 to 30 $s with USPS depending on how much insurance you get and wheather or not you can avoid the baloon charge for an oversize package.I just mailed a 68 inch longbow recently for about 20 $s.Insured for 350$s.It was in a PVC tube barely longger than the bow. They charge more based on distance to and thats a pretty long distance.Hope this helps a bit

send it U.S.postal priority mail. The post office has boxes to use free.I use the triangle box and it protects the bow really well.If the long bow is not a takedown use 2 boxes and put one on top of the other and tape it.You can send most priority anywhere with insurance for $25.00 or less.Good luck,Ken

In regards to what steelhead said:  I bought the bow he is talking about and the bow showed up in great condition.  PVC pipe works great.  Thanks again, Eric!

STAY AWAY FROM UPS

Do a search on here and you'll see a list of horror stories regarding the mis handling of items and of insurance claims not being honored.

Yep, don't use OOPS! I use USPS Priority mail, and the cost insured is less than $20.00. Buy a section of 3" light PVC pipe from Lowe's, or use a section of plastic downspout. If you cut the package down to minimum dimensions, you can avoid a "balloon charge". This is a combined length and circumference of 84".

Good luck!
