Since I had a fresh one handy ....
It's hard to see the 'X' cut, but it's there.

Tried and true Broadheads.
Muzzy and thunderheads have been getting it done for a long time
Hey Dave,...what poundage was the bow and what is the weight of the arrow please. Thanx,...Lloyd
Lloyd,
51#@28 Predator recurve
Arrow came it at 481gr. (35/55 Gold Tip cut 29" with a 100gr brass insert = 336gr, 145gr. Muzzy).
How bout the distance?
That is awesome!
Very cool
Muzzy makes a good head.
When testing some of these, remember, that the shoulder blade of a live deer is not backed by a solid object and moves. That makes it a lot tougher to penetrate with a broadhead.

I use sharpen to the tip broadheads, but have shot many with a 3 blade muzzy. Probably the best replaceable blade head out there.
The few deer I've killed(wheels) have all been taken with the 4 blade muzz trocar tip. Not to get off topic but I always had a sort of "porpoising" with them out of my recurve. I didn't give them much of a chance as I bumped broadhead weight. What would cause this? Anybody had this problem?
Keep in mind it all depends on how well your arrow shaft is flying and how much the animal is turning upon impact. EVERY impact is different in the real world. Impressive results just keep the above in mind.
Thank you for doing this and posting it.
Let's see what it does if you hit right on the spine of the scapula!
Most set ups will punch through a naked blade if you hit the wide flat part while it is hanging on a target. Many will smash through the spine part in the same conditions if tuned correctly - even low pound bows in the 45-50 range. Add hair, hide, meat and most critical - MOVEMENT of the critter and it is a different story.
We have all experienced the quick movement/reaction of a deer after a shot and this changes everything when you hit the shoulder. The parts that "move" the most are the muscles and bones in the shoulders. If you could get deer to stand statue still for every shot blowing through shoulder blades would be little issue.
Well said, Bobby.
As Bobby said, I would venture a field point will blow throw that just as well. Try it and see the results.
The majority of critters I have killed were to a 145 gr 3 blade. I just like trying new things.
1/2" OSB

Great point to always remember. This is why I take little away from most broadhead tests other than real life kill experiences.
I've had no problem blowing thru the flat portion of a shoulder blade on hogs and deer with Muzzy's off my recurves, but hit the rib in the shoulder blade with anything and that is a different issue!
Funny. I've yet to knock a deer over with an arrow or make it skid sideways. Good thing they don't know they're not solid.
Oh well. Take away what you will. See you all next fall.
BTW ... both came out of the OSB just fine.
Not trying to impugn your results there. I see what you do.
The Muzzy is a good head, been around for a while. That bow and arrow / head combination is lethal, for sure.
Just saying that the deer is not static. Even a little movement on its part, or of its parts makes a big difference.
BTW, shoot the shoulder blade and the board with a blunt. If you have enough bow, it will blow thru either better than a broadhead because it punches a hole the size of the shaft, not just a slit.
Also BTW, our bows do not generate the amount of force to be able to knock a healthy deer over (without a spine impact) or even make it skid.
Lastly.... please don't go away till next fall, keep talking to us all year, your company is welcome.

Muzzy's are good heads. Been around for a while and will continue to because they work.
145g 4blade has always been good to me
I don't shoot them now because I shoot wood......
Muzzys are probably as good a head as any out there.
