Hi all,
Well I decided to join not long after I purchased my new recurve bow.
Fred Bear Super Kodiak 50# at 28"
My draw is 26 3/4"
Bow likes 30" arrows, 600 spine with 100-125 grain tip.
The above information actually cost me quite a bit to figure out after bare shaft kits, test field tip kits, and bass pro hooking me up with 340 spine arrows (WAS NOT HAPPY)
I have killed my fair share of wild hogs and a few deer with my compound and my furthest shot was 22 yards (most under 15), so I decided to test my skill with a bow further. Let me tell you this is entirely different ball game. I have been shooting for 2 weeks every day (at least 100 arrows a day) and I am loving it. My groups at 15 yards range between 4" to arrows touching. I have actually wore a path in my grass from walking back and forth to my target to get arrows. Also it is apparent I am in need of a new target.
At this point I would not hesitate to take a deer 15 yards and under, but that magical 20 yards is starting to open up for me. Not so much my lateral line but horizontally. I am sure with time I will get it. So far it really has been enjoyable and I am looking forward to my new hobby. Any comments or advice please feel free.
Welcome, sounds like you are well on your way.
To keep that path from getting too deep try shooting from different angles as well as destances.
Carry each group of shots to from 5 yards then out to 20 or so just to get your shooting memory tuned in.
