A few days back I posted a video of my 16 year old son taking a deer with his bow. Along on the trip was his friend that had never been on a deer hunt before. At the shot, the young man was simply overwhelmed with emotion and without doubt, was hooked for life as a deer hunter and archer. After posting the video, I was contacted by several Trad Gang folks wanting to know the story on the young man and several even offer to send him bows to help him get started in archery. Well today Austin stopped by to visit my son Luke and he was presented with the bow that was given to him by Glenb B. (Glenbo on here). When my son handed it to him he was just floored and kept saying "for real, for real"? We set him up with arrows, bowstringer and tab and he promptly amazed us with some really good shooting. I mean the boy was driving tacks at 18 yards! We will be taking him to some shoots in the new year and he has as good a tutor as you can get in my son.
Thank you to Glenbo and all the folks that offered to help out this modest and humble young man. Today, you made a difference.

That is just awesome! The kids got great form.
I know my best friend growing up got his start from going with me and my dad. He is still at it and has two young sons he is teaching.
It also formed a special bond between him and my dad. Today we are as close to brothers as you can be and not be blood. Probably closer than some.

Way to go!
A little story for ya....
I was on a job(I work construction as a union laborer)back in 2009. My shop steward on the job, my friend Smitty, who I've known since 2nd grade told me he had someone he wanted me to meet.
He said there was a union plumber on the job that was really into "the same stuff you are".
Later that day he introduced me to Glen....needless to say Smitty was right...
We hit it off and went thru that season on that job talking hunting, bows, shooting,etc...daily.
I'm not one to share some of what I do with just anyone...but I never hesitated to share anything with Glen...it was easy to see he was the real deal...just a super guy who I really enjoyed talking with and we started spending some spare time together.
I told him about TG, and he quickly signed up as a member. He liked it here right off. Later I invited him to the Bunny hunt at Shawn's, and the next spring got him started bowfishing.
He is the only reason I made my first selfbow, there was no way I ever would have attempted it with out him.
I'm here to tell you that they just don't come any better than ol' Glenbo!
He's a great shot, a tenacious hunter, an extremely talented bowyer, great family man, in the absolute best shape of anyone I know, of any age...and as seen in this thread, one of the most generous guys I've ever known.
So proud to call him my very good friend!
I have a bunch of photo's I could share from what we've done together, but I'll just share a couple from this year...
Bowfishing on a very tough day on the river, but Glen still got it done!

Well done buddy :notworthy: :clapper:
Happy to make a young mans day. Looks like Austin can shoot! How many bows does one man need anyway. Jerry, it is just a drop in the bucket compared to what you do for others.
