Title: Know any bowyer who will re-tiller for 3 under?
Post by: Michael Arnette on December 02, 2013, 08:00:00 PM
Hello folks, I am interested to see if any of the bowyers you know would be willing to re-tiller a 1960's bear kodiak magnum for 3 under? Preferably in a timely manner and do a good job.
It's fine for now but I would like to have it fixed after the season ends.

Talk to John at the Bow Hospital - you can find him under the sponsor links.

Most any will probably do it if they have the time, but it is a waste of time. If you do notice a difference, it will be insignificant.

What Jim said. On top of that it will likely be expensive as the bow has to be refinished. Also if the bowyer has any kind of accident., Drops the bow or anything then he is responsible to replace the bow.
God bless, Steve

Yeah, I'd try raising your shelf just to see what you will get first. A shaved down bear stick on weather rest may be the ticket as well.

What makes you want it retillered, noise? It won't improve enough to make the effort worth financing. Like others said if you are shooting of the rest try a feather rest.

I'd be really curious to hear from bowyers on this.  From what I have seen of tillering it is with a peg or line that makes no account for fingers at all.  It is a single point that would be below the nock of the arrow.

Does anyone actually tiller with split finger or three under considered?

building my self bows, when i shot split, i tillered with a 1/4"positive tiller, then i switched to 3 under, so i tiller for even tiller now.
is there a difference- i dunno- jus' doin' what i'm told!!   :D
i'm sure there is a technical answer to this issue, and someone better qualified to give a concise answer to it will probably chime in, otherwise i will try tomorrow= late now!
