Do you guys have a way to hold your longbow in a vertical position close to your foot with an arrow nocked and ready? I have tried to think of ways to do this but so far have been unsuccessful. I shoot an A&H ACS which has a narrow reflex deflex design if that would make a difference,
I would like to say I am aware I have a lap and can use that so please don't mention that as I looking for alternatives.
Cheers,
James
I have a holder that stabs into the ground. Its basically a horizontal "u" shape welded to a stake. I'll try to remember to take a pic.
When I use a tent blind, I just lean the top limb against the tent. All I have to do is pick it up and shoot. This doesn't work so well with short recurves.

I don't have a name, but I saw some on sale recently at my local Menard's store. I know they are out there. What I saw sounds very much like what kbetts describes, with a spike bottom.

This is a improved model of what I make. I've used one since the 60's, works great.

I like to make a trypod and have the bow in front of me like this .

Two or three forked sticks stuck in the ground. Just cut to the length you need.

The bow holder near the end of the video might be what you are looking for.
Many of us sew small "pockets" onto our hunting pants to perform the same as that bow holder. I have a pair with a gusseted pocket with an area just above my knee that is perfect for use when standing on a treestand.
I usually use a 6" square piece of carpet remnant that I throw down on the ground to place my bow tip on(when sitting ground blind)and hold the bow upright against my knee. I shoot lefty so I have been holding the bow on the left side with my knee inside the string, the bow facing string left arrow tip right, and my left hand just kinda making sure it doesn't go anywhere.
It is upright and right there for when I need it, and the tip is not in the dirt.

I made an "S" out of some pretty stiff wire. Hook one end on one of the overhead fiberglass rods and hang my bow from the lower half. Put it close to the side and the roof will not collapse.
On edit, this is if you are using a Double Bull type blind.
Run a Google search for Ground Bow Holder then click on images, at the top of search results. This should give you plenty of ideas for DIY holder.
Just use whatever's handy, the more gizmos we need to carry the less our chances of success.
Nice looking bow Graps. Sorry guys, I keep mine across my lap because I shoot almost horizontal anyway.
