Title: American made rain gear...
Post by: Dave Lay on September 11, 2007, 08:08:00 PM
does any one make a quality camo rain gear that is made in the US? actually it doesnt have to be camo, but it does need to be of a quiet fabric and some thing that breathes.. I bought some from Cabelas (300.00) and it was made in China, as about everything now a days, but I returned it, and was told all thier rain gear is "imported" just been tryin not to support the chinese any more than I have to, and want to support American companies.. ... thanks Dave

Check out Helle Hanson this is the stuff the commercial fishermen wear.I got a coat I use all winter and any rainy day and I have yet to get wet( I am a postal carrier of 26yrs).I tried Cabelas MT-5o and other Gore-Tex products and HH has proven to be the best. A guide up in Saskachewan bear hunting turned me on to it.

Simms Fishing Products makes some great high end rain gear all made in Bozeman MT. Gore brand membrane in their breathable jacket in a dark forrest green.  I have one that is over 10yrs old and still doesn't leak.  I fish, hunt and ski in the same jacket.

I believe that Rivers West is American made.  I have a suit by them, and it is my everyday "go to" suit unless the weather is warm.  It does everything, keeps you warm, keeps you dry, and cuts the wind!  I hear they are making a newer lighter weight version.  It is the best (by far) outfit I have ever owned!
