Street talk is our turkey guru Joey Buchanan killed a monster whitetail today. Who said big whitetails are tough compared to a butterball? Someone needs to prod him for the story and some pictures.
Looking forward to this one! :coffee:

Out with it Joey! We've all read your accounts on the benefits of the tree sling thingy, ect... so let see some proof :readit:
The picture I saw made Joey look thin.
Thanx to Don I saw the pic....it's true, it makes him look thin!!
Congrats bud :notworthy:
Let's see it!
Come on Joey! Did ya get him "off the roost"? Let's hear it!
:campfire:
I need a camera that does that! Joey is a helluva woodsman- glad he scored on a dandy buck!
Can't wait to hear the story and see the pictures. I need some pumping up after this past week.
C MON Joey we are waiting patiently :campfire:
How do you turn down an intro from Mr. Whitetail himself.......no not Marty.....Uncle Barry the man. well.... i'll keep it short.....most of ya'll are probably ADD like me....MS River Pre rutt was smokin last week with COLD temps. I had missed 2 nice bucks and a doe and paunch shot a doe i recovered the next day. My accuracy or confidence was taking a beating.. ya'll know the merit badge... Decided to let my homemade recurve bow i call Swamprooter rest Sat. morning for first time in 20 seasons and try my new Alaska Bowhunting Nano 2 longbow i had been shooting off and on for months. Hunted a stand in a sweetgum cutover i havent been too in 2 years except briefly in Aug to check on climbing steps. I slept late and got to my stand at 7 am. Bumped a nice buck going in but contined on. 7:05 6 pt. comes trotting by and never checks up. 7:15 i see horns, alot of horns and he's coming with head up. Its thick where i hunt so i see him first at 40 yards and get ready he's at 30 ,20 15....oh crap..he 's going to cross my entrance path.......12.....10..he has no clue......8 ......7..........pull the arrow to my eye and looked down the shaft and whisper "Hello Smokey".....thunk!!!!..1 7/8" broadhead buries through the buck..reason why i said Hello Smokey is because the buck croosed right over my boot tracks which i had applied Smokeys Coon scent on my boots.......love that stuff...... so first time i ever took the Nano 2 hunting and 15 minutes later.....i got horns and meat...stayed in stand another hour so i could miss another doe and get that streak started again ( limb hit a muscadine vine or something like that )........the buck had that low thunder take off. whac..whac.whac...whuc..whuc.and started to plow over small sapplings , i knew he was down...... found him 43 steps from my stand.....pic makes him look huge... but he has three main beams which is different for me.......i was lucky this time.....its strange new feeling :)

I'm real happy for you Joey. I'm starting to think you got Whip's horseshoe though.
Well done.
Joey,
What was your setup? Were you still on the ground when you shot or in your sling?
Nice story too, like to hear I'm not the only one that misses.
Joey... note from "the man".... that broadhead is VERY close to your string in the photo. But then again it's mission was already accomplished. And #2.. don't be so free admitting to your misses. I haven't missed since 1984 I think it was. Good job buddy! UB
Congratulations Joey! That buck makes you look small and that broadhead makes both of you look small.
:scared:

Happy you got a chance to finally hunt. I remember the days when my boys were little and I was a full time guide like you are now. Enjoy them while you can though. Very nice buck the pic looks alot better on the computer.
Ps, can I borrow that green T- Shirt with the BBQ place on it? I"m heading to Marty's wed for a day or 3.
Great buck dude! Gotta love them Silverflames, they be blood hunters for sure! That dude has character, thanks for sharing.
 :clapper: very unique rack.
Way to go Joey!
Man, that is a great buck!
Holy moly batman that's a gorgeous animal. I'm surprised he's not sliced in two by the looks of that cleaver on the end of the arrow. I suppose that's how you southern folk quarter out the critters to get them out of the woods? ;)
Very nice Joey,  Very nice!
The deer has tons of character. Congrats!!!
Awesome buck!! Congratulations and thanks for sharing!!! :notworthy:

Nice Buck Joe.... persistence does pay off my Brother.
Gotta love those here he's coming.
I'm pure murder at 5 steps. Ha
George
I love these Smart Phone cameras...they do make you look thinner.....before the pic, our caretaker asked me to hang from the gambrel to make sure the new electronic scale was working......so with all my battle gear on, pockets stuffed with every known urine excreted by a deer, binos, clippers, handwarmers, cell phone, heavy a$$ king of mt overalls.........total weight of me fully loaded ( no breakfast).........drum roll....................................................................278#........i could have taken that buck without the Nano 2. Just a form tackle.
Tell your caretaker he better check his scale! I'll bet the buck only weighed 125# on that scale!
I am bringing a scale to NE...I wanna see what it says with his Waldrop seat, dekes, 57 calls, war shield, bow, arras, couple sammichs, and blanket added to it. No way it's under 3 bills :)
Way to go, Very nice Buck
Awesome deer!
