Went out bundled-up like the Michelin Man and stayed on the ground.
After 3 hours of getting drizzled on and 5 minutes or so of actual snow I see a group of does heading my way.
The wind is swirling in the little draw and the lead doe puts her nose up every few steps, but keeps on coming.
At 10 yards she steps behind a tree and I draw. The big snuffer is just waiting for one more step.
Nothing doing. She stays put long enough that I have to let down my draw and though she doesn't snort ... she just bounds back the way she came taking the rest of the group with her.
Fun stuff.
Awesome hunt.
You picked a great spot.
You got into deer.
You drew at the right time.
She might not of been ready to go yet. But you did everything right....great hunt.
Great job I'm heading out in the morning for a ground hunt, hope I have that much luck!!
Get 'em next time, Mr Magoo!
Bisch
things happen for a reason get back at it!!!
Sounds like the story of my last 3 seasons! Still looking for my first trad harvest, but as LB Hntr indicated plenty of successes in that hunt.
Hey Magoo, were you out with the new to you Predator Hunter?
You are a "man amongst men"! I was in a tree in Ashe county Monday morning at 10 deg.F. That's likely a personal low for me, pardon the pun. I know I'm too old for that crap, at my age I'm entitled to be a "wuss amongst men"!
good hunt!
 :archer:
Thats exciting! Good luck next hunt!
Exciting hunt! I really enjoy hunting on the ground at their level! Good luck on your next hunt!
that's what its all about.
If we won everytime what fun would it be!!!!!! Your doing it the hard way.
Sounds like you had a Good Hunt!
Sounds like a fun hunt, definitely one that won't easily be forgoten! Thanks for sharing and good luck next time!
Hey Pete. Yep had the Predator out.
Had a basic repeat this morning. Cold, cold, cold out. Deer came from the opposite side I was expecting and caught my scent about 25 yards out. Facing me so no shot opportunity. That was about 09:30. Stuck it out till around 11am hoping a buck would be following her trail, but no luck.
Maybe next week.
Hey Magoo, you're constantly within their 20 yard bubble. A lot to be said for that man! Me and my Pedator are heading out Saturday for a morning sit. Upper 20s here in southern NY. Good luck the rest of the way this season.
that is the kind of action that keeps me out there.
