I toyed around with the thought of ordering a Fox Breed recurve for a few years. Finally decided to order last spring. Bow was delivered Monday, and im very glad I ordered the bow. I had only shot an earlier model Breed that didn't have as much offset to the grip, so I was wondering how that would work out... Well, its perfect.
Some basics on the bow- 58", 51#@28, Myrtle limbs (very nice multi color), Bolivian Rosewood riser with either myrtle or black locust heel (supposed to be myrtle but sure looks like locust).
The Breed has narrower limbs for a recurve, just over 1-1/4" at widest. The offset grip feels perfect, just enough swell on the left do fill the palm, and nice distinct curve at the heel. The "offset" in my opinion helps the bow "point up" quicker and more natural, it just kind of finds its own "sweet spot" as far as bow position/cant goes etc.
As far as shooting goes, its as good as it gets in a bow. Dead quiet, smooth, dead in hand, hits where you look etc. All you can ask for in a bow, period.
My camera is dead, so here are some low quality "cell phone" pics of a high quality bow!

Richard builds excellent bows. Some of the best workmanship in the business. I have 2 of his Royal Crown Bows. Good luck with the Breed, it looks great.
you mean Ron? :) Yep he builds a fine bow for sure. Hopefully the next pics will be atop a nice trophy.
That's beautiful........
I killed the bull moose with a 50lb fox breed in 2007

your breed is a beaut!
nice bull! yep it looks great, but really the beauty is in how it shoots, and how quiet it is.
That is a gorgeous rig!
its getting a Kanati quiver today, debated on using a bow quiver or not, as it just feels so good and balances so well in the hand.
Beautiful bow!
That is one pretty bow!
Matt:
That is one beautiful bow. I had one some time back and it was a real shooter. Best of luck with it.
Hmmm.....Fox website not working?

Beautiful bow. Love my Fox breed. Ron builds some great bows I have 2 more of his on order.
Beautiful bow.
Congrats! What a beautiful recurve. Amazing wood in the limbs!
Ron and Debbie are great people and make a nice bow.
Beautiful bow. Love those myrtle veneers.
very, very nice! this bow was on my short list before I ultimately went with my RER Retro. it was truly a tossup. no regrets, but i'd still like to have one of these one day.
I like that! Nice bow, good luck with it.
That is one sharp looking bow! One of the prettiest I've ever seen. Maybe my Fox longbow needs a brother.
Nice purchase Matt! You have great taste in bows.
That is sweet
I had a coco bolo yew limb breed wish I had it back
:clapper: :clapper:
That is Super Sweet! I want one!
thanks guys, really spent some time tuning yesterday, hell it was so easy.... shoots great/true with either CE 150s/250s with everything from 125 to 200 up front. Im pleasantly surprised its so tolerant, as its not quite cut to center. Seems to prefer the 250s, but will still do some testing.
Im thinking about ordering a 47# 62" Breed for 3D.
I really, really like the looks of that bow
Beautiful Bow!
Lamey
Hands down, every time you post pics of one of your bows, I drool, you have exceptional taste !!!
Yep, One of the few I'm sorry I ever let get away was my Breed. I'm lucky though, the new owner let's me shoot it every now and then to remind me what a knucklehead I am.
Congrat's on the great bow Matt!
thanks again... was impressive enough for me to immediately want to order a lighter # one in 62" for 3d etc....
Of the many, many bows I have owned/shot, this one just fits me the best... not only in grip but in balance, overall feel, performance etc...
Also the Fox website is fine, matter of fact he has some stock bows wich is rare for Ron.
Now that is some impressive myrtle!
The veneers and overlays are stunning. Very nice looking bow! Congrats!!
I have a High Sierra, 50#@28. That bow will be with me for the duration. I really like the offset in the handle. Jack
Great looking bow. Love the myrtle on the limbs.
thanks fellas, yep the Myrtle is amazing, and looks much better in person... has much more curl/3d effect.... they really aren't veneers but actual working thickness limbs.
Really loving the bow, cant wait to actually get some time to hunt with it.
TTT for the Breed Review...
First time I've seen that offset in the grip. I've been thinking about one of these, in 54". Like the info on the quietness. Love that Myrtle.
Tom, quietest recurve ive shot, well.. this one and the Toelke Chinook. Both are "longbow" quiet.
Matt, that is one beautiful bow! I had a Breed and it is the only bow I regrett selling. Only let it go because it was too heavy. The breed is both the quietest and fastest bow I have ever shot. I will have another someday. I'm sure the bow will bring you luck. Don't think a deer could jump the string on a Breed.
Love the looks of this bow. Back to the top.
Was shooting today in the woods and it still knocks my socks off.... longbow quiet, recurve fast.. just love it.
Glad it's working out for you! It is easy on the eyes.
Congrats on a sweet looking Breed! I shot one a while back and was very impressed with the performance of the bow.
Very nice looking bow, congrats!
Have owned 2 breeds and can say they are one fantastic bow! Congrats - it's a beaut!
Looks like Mr. Fox had the canted grip on his breed long before Mr. Robertson did on the wolfer.
Nice bow! Always wanted to try a breed.
Great looking bows, let's see some more!
Ron build beautiful bows!
Very nice. That bow made your phone look good!
Great looking bow Matt!
Steve
Not bad phone pics of a beautiful bow.
 :campfire:
thanks fellas, I cant explain in the right words how good/right this bow feels, just spot on in every way!
I do believe you. In fact after shooting one I put my order in. I should have it in April.
Nice looking bow
I had to get on the list also after seeing this bow and talking to Matt. Mine will be done in July I'm hoping.
That bow is perfect!

I don't need one I don't need one....
My Breed came in 2010. 54", 54# @ 25". osage orange limbs and cocobolo riser, a real beauty. QUIET and fast, Ron makes a sweet shooter...
My High Sierra is my go-to bow. Great shooter and crazy good looking!
A beauty of a bow Matt, very nice, I want one, well I want THIS one.... :bigsmyl:
Absolutely nothing to not love about that bow. I have always been a fan of the Fox bows both in quality of build and design. That one is stunning.
Course us Oregon bowers are just the bestest!!!!
God bless, Steve
Beautiful bow, the only bow I have ever regretted selling was a Fox Breed. Top notch craftsmanship and both the fastest and quietest bow I have ever shot. I hope to have another someday. Enjoy yours.
That's probably one of the best looking bows I've ever laid eyes on. Unreal!
