Post by: longbow fanatic 1 on November 24, 2013, 06:43:00 PM
Hey Mike,

I just wanted to express how much I enjoyed your article DIY Mule Deer on a Budget article. I found it well written, informative  and funny. Thanks for providing a how-to on a great DIY hunt. BTW: great pictures too!

For those who haven't read it yet, I would invite you to pick up a copy of the Fall 2013 Tradarcher's World magazine. It's well worth the read.

WOW, I just came on to see what everyone was up to, and saw the heading.  Made my day.

Thank you for the kind words.  I have read plenty of articles in magazines that talk about doing a DIY hunt to save money, but nobody ever broke it down to explain where the money could be saved.  I set out to do that in this article and let everyone know that everyone of us "Common Folk" can have a great, affordable hunt.

Roger Norris and I had a fantastic hunt and I couldn't ask for a better hunting partner.  The hunt was successful on so many different levels, and yes there was quite a bit of humor in there, and even more left out.

Ask Roger about the waitress in the middle of nowhere that came outside the restaurant with her fists up and taunting me to get out of the truck (thanks for setting me up on that one Roger).  We laughed all the way to the next State.

Ha!....The way I remember it, we were in Nowhere Wyoming, and I tipped  the waitress (who had proven to be feisty already)at the register, but asked her to get mad at Mike because there was no tip on the table. She came out acting mad as heck. Mike is no small guy, and I'm no wall flower...but I'm pretty sure she would have whipped us both.    ;)

That was a great hunt, and Mike is a great travel/camp/hunt partner. Nice job getting published Mike!

You broke down the costs and expenditures nicely and gave me hope to be able to afford these trips in the near future.
You and Roger had a great trip and congrats on each of your harvests!

Yeah it gives a guy some ideas on saving cash to make the hunt happen. I liked the article also!

Of course I called my buddy and said "you know if we get some extra fuel cans for the lawn mower and stock pile some gas it will make our trip cheaper much like Mike raiding his kitchen for food"   :)
