Title: Thank You Mr Gene Wensel!
Post by: Fritz on November 21, 2013, 10:53:00 AM
I just wanted to thank you for saving my back this last hunting trip to KS. I was packing my stuff in my truck and saw a section of ladderstand I had stuck up in my shop. Something sparked in my head and I remembered you writing about using one to load your deer. I threw it in the truck and used it to load close to a half a ton of deer(4) in my truck by myself! Crazy how something so simple made such a difference. Thanks again for the tip.

That is good tip. I also hear of guys using plywood with handle on it. Takes up no space in the bed n there when you need it

I'm sure many things would work, but the ladder was nice cause you could stand on the rungs and keep it solid as you worked the deer into the truck. Just goes to show sometimes the simplest things can make a huge difference!

Another good idea is adding small wheels to one end of the ladder that allows you to lay the deer on it and then lift the back end and roll them in.  I used this before I just started to do the NO GUT thing and haul them de-boned in a back pack.
