Is the Bitzenburger fletcher really that much better than the other less expensive fletching jigs?
Depends upon who you talk to.
I don't think so.
Keep in mind that no one can look at your arrows at the range and tell you what fletcher was used to make them.

i prefer the jojan single fletching jig over the bitz personally. 2 times in the last 20 years i bought a bitz because everyone said it was the best. both times i went back to my jojan single and sold the bitz.
But that is just my personal opinion.there are alot of people out there that love the bitz. and probably more custom arrow builders use bitz than any other kind.
The Martin J8 is similar to the Bitz, and has an adjustable indexer that allows you to precisely set the orientation of the fletches, which the Bitz doesn't have. It is about half the cost of a Bitz, and does everything the Bitz does. The Bitz puts a little more helical on the feathers than any other fletching jig I know of. The Bitz magnet is very strong. If you find a Bitz indexer you like, or if you're happy with the standard Bitz indexer, or if you get a Bitz indexer that has a blank row that you can drill your own holes in, you'll probably be happier with the Bitz than anything else. But whether you're twice as happy is something you'll have to judge for yourself.
I have used many different jigs over the last 37 yrs.Good info stated above, ask yourself how much are you going to fletch, how many jigs do you need, cost factor. There are alot of good jigs out there. One good thing to remember is you have a great base of knowledge on this site, plus the classified section to possibly find a jig.One jig you might take a look at is on Big Jim's site is the Uni-Fletcher it will even accept the Bitz clamp and you can buy 3 for the price of 1 Bitz.
Good Luck Meathook
Unlike Meathook I have only used one over the last 37 years. Bit the bullet bought a Bitzenburger been happy ever since. I cannot comment on how it compares with other jigs but after nearly 4 decades of reliable service, I would have to say it has provided good value.

Dan
I prefer the Bitzenburger, because that is all I have ever tried. They all do the same job...put feathers on an arrow.
I have never used anything but the JoJan, and it gets the job done just fine. The Bitz may be better, but I'm too old to change.
I have a couple of Bitzenburger's and a couple of Jo Jan's,they both work fine.I have had them both for many years. You can't tell which one I fletched with other then my Jo Jan's are RW and my Bitz's are LW.You just basically want a fletcher to hold your feathers in position until the glue dries. You can spend as much or little as you want on a fletcher.I like both of my fletchers, they both work great!
The quality is there for sure but to get the job done no...
I prefer the bear paw. Blitz is my 2nd favorite
I like the older 50's and 60's Bitz's over the new dial a fletch.
I started with a JoJan multi fletcher back in the 1980's. I sold it and purchased a Bitzenburger and now have gone back to a JoJan single fletcher.
Nothing wrong with a Bitz but the JoJan is the one I like to use.
Bear Paw at Kustom King is my favorite. I sold my Bitz's after getting it.
for the amount of arrows I fletch the Bitz works great. I tried the one Cabela's sells that stands upright and does all three feathers at once. Hated it, sent it back.
JoJan Multi-fletcher
I've had two Jo-Jans since the 60s and last year bought a used Bitzenburger. I prefer the accuracy of the Bitz by far.
Been using my Bitz for the last 40 years- no problems. No need to try other fletchers.
I have a Jojan multi, love it. Never tried the Bitz.

This^^^^^^^! I can fletch a dozen arrows in 2hrs and no one (esp not the critters I shoot) can tell which jig was used to fletch my arrows!
I actually recently just bought a second JoJan Multi fletcher and can now fletch a dozen arrows in just over an hour! It is awesome!

JoJan multi fletcher....'bout $90. Six Bitz's.....'bout $300 (used prices). It all depends on what your time is worth to you.
I have 5 bitz's all left wing clamps...? ;) I find myself only fletching on one at a time on rainy days.I love the accuracy of this simple device
2 Edges
I like my bear paw!
