yesterday I posted asking about smooth-on and if I needed a hot box or not. I went ahead and built a quicky hot box. I left the bow in the box for 23 hours as the box didn't get very hot- maybe 100 degrees??
This is what came out of the box :bigsmyl:

Joe,
Have fun tillering that. I've been wanting to try a laminated bow.

That looks scary. I would keep an eye on the fade area.

I was thinking the same thing. It looks like an explosion waiting to happen to me. I sure hope she shoots though. I bet she will be a screamer if she holds together.

no corners in a limp next time i would say.
other than that, tiller it and see what happens.
at least you could learn something.
good luck and enjoy it.
and keep us up to date please,so we can learn something too.
thanks shantam

Now doesn't she have a neat curve to her!
Looking forward to hearing how she shoots.

Damn...I would have never though anyone could pull that off!! Good Job, I chuckled to myself when I saw the first pic....thinking good luck with that one! post us a pic when she is finished!

Blimey! I was waiting for the bang!
Nice job, Sir!

I knew ya could do it Joe, nicely done.

Joe, looks cool, but I'd be careful and watch not only with it breaking at the fades but the glass shearing off the back of the riser when you get it all trimmed out, looks like the pressure is really concentrated there, wear a thick leather glove when you shoot it for as while just to be safe, I decided to forgo the oven and went with the heat strips instead, they work great, and fast, I can lay up a limb, cook it, and be trimming in just over an hour, they were worth every cent to me, as I can't wait to screw something up, I want to do it quick, lol, lol.

Show us a pic of that braced at rest.

Mike I'll try and get ya a pic this weekend. I need to buy a shorter string so as to bring up the brace height. Right now it's at 51/2 inches, I'd like it to be at 61/2 to 7. The string I have is twisted about as much as it can be :)
I'm surprised it hasn't blown up yet. I really tried to push the envelope with this design, but so far she's holding togather. The bow is pulling 70 pounds @ 28 inches and she is a screamer. When I get her done I'll take her in and crono her. I bet she is at or above 190 fps. I shot a fiberglass fish arrow tonight into a 3-d bear target. Before I pulled the arrow I marked it with my pencil. The arrow penetrated 7 3/8 into the target and it's not an old target. I bought it last august at Bass pro in Clarksville.
