This buck, at what I guessed was 3.5 years last fall, showed up about this time and hung around for a month or so and disappeared. It was never seen during the daylight by any of several folks hunting in the area.
I'm just guessing at his age last year. He might have been 4.5 years.

I thought he may have been killed last year, but no, he showed up this week and gets its photo taken about every other night. It is the same buck and boy what another year makes moving from 3.5 to 4.5 years makes. He looks a little bigger being close to the camera but he is still pretty impressive. Pretty nice for north Louisiana. I suspect if he keeps to the dark hours he might just die of old age. :)

I keep a camera most of the year on the same tree in a travel route at a pinch point. We had some beaver and tornado damage a few years back and it closed up the trail around the back of the lake. I spent some time this summer with chainsaw and weed eater opening a slick trail to the beaver damn crossing and the increased number of deer, bobcat, coyote, fox and coon coming by the camera is amazing.
It appears that he knows how the game is played...
Beauty!
Wow! Heckuva buck!
Wowzers! What a MOOSE! Man, look at the length of the tines! Man ole man, that one would make you sit in a tiny stand all day swatting skeeters.

What a Beauty! Good Luck on your quest! :archer:
Love seeing or hearing about deer that are 'ghosts'. No telling what we missed out on before trail cameras.
I hope you get to see him in the flesh, and in the light of day.
That's a nice one for anywhere!!!
Go hunt him now :archer:
Too bad you don't have any snow, you might be able to find his bed, or if you had more camera's to line out his travel route.
Nice pic Cliff, hope you get a chance at him.
That would be a nice buck even if it was Iowa!! Fantastic deer, hope you get a shot @ him and put up some pictures when you do!!!
Buck fever just lookin' at the pics! :saywhat:
Wow!
Other than the pictures, you have yet to lay eyes on him...BUT, I wonder if, or how many times HE has seen YOU!
In my area here in Michigan, hunting pressure can be INSANE, and MOST bucks get killed by 1 1/2 years old. When I got my first trail cam "back in the day" it REALLY gave me a lot more respect for the tenacity of the whitetail, because the camera PROVED that the big ones are there...they just have to live differently to survive.
Thanks for sharing.
