I just got my first traditional bow, a beautiful Tall Tines custom, at 60#@28". I have some Easton full metal jackets, 400 spine...cant remember the grains per inch, but would those work well for my set up? I know most of you guys shoot really heavy arrows compared to the compound guys(which I may quickly be a FORMER compound guy :D )...and am wondering on what would be the best 'shoot for' arrow grain weight for my set up. I am not worried about speed, I am more worried about kinetic energy and a quiet bow. I am going from a 72 pound hoyt vector 32 putting out almost 85 pounds of kinetic energy, and I still want pass through every time if possible...and I understand that with a good broad head, and good shot placement...that it is usually not an option. dirtybird blows through almost every deer he shoots, so I am confident that my bow will do the job, I would just like some opinions on what arrow weight to shoot for, and some ideas on head grains. should I go 200 ish, or even more...or is this just something I need to experiment with to find what works best for my shooting style and bow? thanks in advance and I am really enjoying this forum, you guys are all one super class act group of guys!
sorry, I meant to say 'not a problem'...not 'not an option'
What's your draw length? It may be different than it was with your Hoyt, likely a touch shorter...
Currently I'm pulling 62#@29" and I'm shooting 30" Beman mfx shafts with a total of 325gr up front. Total arrow weight is around 685. My bow is nice and quiet with no lack of penetration and decent speed around 180fps. I always err to the heavy side when choosing arrow setups.....hope this helps you out.

thanks for the replies...I am not really sure on my draw length on my recurve. on my compounds, I shoot 28.5...so I am guessing like 27-28 on my recurve. the corner of the string is about a half inch or inch shorter than with my compounds, when I hit my anchor and release. I am thinking I want a pretty heavy arrow as well.
I'm sure you can make a .400 spine work, depending on length and point weight. It will take some experimenting most likely. Get yourself a good selection of points from 125-200 and see what flies the best. That's a good place to start.
