Title: All purpose game call. Works wonders

Short demonstration of the mouth squeak.

I referenced in my squirrel hunting post that I "called" in squirrels at a few different sets. For those who are new to hunting or just don't vocalize much I wanted to explain.

What I did was the basic mouth squeak or hand kiss however you descirbe it, I actually found out about its usefulness accidently as an impatient kid hunting and I have continued to use it over the years.

Squirells, hawks, owls, rabbits , yotes etcetera respond very well and usually pretty quick to the squeak.

For my squirell hunting I take my stand where I have good visibility and shots and then start squeaking for about 30 seconds and I stop, look and listen. If after 30-45 seconds I don't see or hear movement ill do this again. I only stay in one spot for maybe 10 min and then move off maybe 50 -75 yds and repeat.

The amount of critters you will see doing this is unreal and yes I've even had curios does and young deer meander by to take a look.

Fascinating.  I have often wondered about this.

Tried something very similar last Saturday night, nothing ... I'll keep trying.

Are you using your lips to make the sound with your hand just as a sound box, or do you make the sound by your lips "kissing" the spot you indicated (for lack of a better word)?

Works well.  My dog came running while I was watching your video.

Ishi used this technique to hunt rabbits. And he brought in other critters too, from the accounts. Calling, in its many forms, might just be the most underutilized and powerful method out there.

Waist of time. Never works.JK  :biglaugh:    Works on any thing out there. That's what I use to get the yotes in real close. You can blow long kisses at them also so your hand is free.

I have used this many times. It is a killer on squirrels and has brought in every fox I've ever seen passing by.
Now I haven't tried this with rabbits before? Do they come right in like any other animal does?

The rabbits are a weird one. The ones I have seen come to it are real sneaky about it.
Either I just look over and BAM, there it was or you hear just a small sound like a leaf falling and there it is.

I can't make the sound. Have tried off and on over the years. Any pointers?

Txag,
You are sucking air in, over your lips.
Breath in THRU your lips, adjust pressure untill it starts to squeak. Adjust untill you get the sound you want,

Or just fake kiss your hand like back in 7th grade and try to make it loud and annoying. Once you figure out how to get the sound started then practice on controlling it

Haha I am so doing this.  I have a distressed rabbit call I've been fooling with, but this just seems way simpler!  I have really had a hankering lately for trying to bag a bobcat, and this just might do it who knows.

I wrote about this a while back... don't remember the name of the thread. Here's a few pics showing different ways to do it.

A squeaker call works well also
They are cheap and often can be taken out of pet toys.

My Grand Father taught me that call 48 years ago,  We used the call when hunting squirrels. Thanks for the reminder!
