I sit here about 18 feet above ground on land that I own during the peak of the whitetail rut in the Midwest with a custom Made in the U.S.A recurve. My wife got our kids off to school this morning without a hitch. We all slept great last night. I have a great job, my family is healthy. Life is good.
I don't take my good fortune for granted. I know there are men and women who have fought and died for these freedoms and others that continue to do so today. My family is forever indebted to your service and your sacrifice and I just want to say Thank You for making and keeping this land, the land of the free.

Thank you all past present and future for your service......
No words can fully convey the depth of our gratitude or adequately describe the debt we owe to these fine men and women.

When I show my retired military ID card at a local Home Improvement store that gives a "military discount", the cashiers almost always say "thank you for your service" and I almost always reply, "it was MY honor" and, if I'm not very careful, I can easily get choked-up, a little, on my way out of the store....
I feel like I am the one who should be thanking the citizens of this country for giving me the rare opportunity and privilege to lead brave young Americans in peace and in war. Without a doubt, I know that being a small unit leader was always my first, best destiny, whether as an NCO, or later, as an officer. I thank God and the American People for giving me the opportunity to be able to do that which is best and most important, in the company of the finest people I have ever known.
Don't be surprised if, the next time you thank a veteran, he or she thanks YOU right back!
