Hello all. I would like to start by saying happy 238th birthday to all the other Marines on here. I am new here and using this forum as a reference on recomendation of a friend. I shot traditional archery as a child, and moved on to compounds where i stayed for the next 28years. I am now going back to my roots and shooting traditional. I have a Martin long bow that I got from my father. I shot quite a bot this weekend, with the expected results. Consistently hit the target, but with 15-18" groups at 20yards. My grouping got better as I became more familiar with the bow. I will probably have many stupid questions for you guys as I figure all this out again, so I appologize in advance. Thank s for hosting this page.
Welcome!
Welcome the adventure starts!
Welcome! Thank you!
Hello from San Antonio,Texas. What part of Texas are you from?
Ft. Worth. My bow is from San Antonio tho...
Greetings from Georgia. Just keep shooting and the groups will shrink.
Hey I know you. I was about to search for info on your ML-14. Now you can do it.

I was actually surprised that I hit the target! Some years back I was on a Ted Nugent kick and tried taking the sights off of my compound...I put a hole in just about everything but the target. I was really expecting similar results this weekend, but the long bow felt right somehow.
Hey there Craig! Let's shoot soon. I'll be in Minnesota til Friday so my arm should be ready by then.
Welcome to the 'gang! Your friend steered you in the direction! All that you could ever want to learn about trad archery and more available on this site, and some of the best people from all over the world are regulars at this cyber-camp!
Welcome to the Tradgang family!!
Remember traditional archery is a journey and like any other journey there will be ups and downs.
We all enjoy the highs but most learning takes place because of the lows.
Tradgang has made an enormous difference in the lives and learning of a whole host of traditional bowhunters (including me) because it has made it so we don't have to face the challenges alone.
There is a tremendous amount of information to be had here and folks with hearts of gold who are more than willing to share their knowledge with you.
Please join us here at the cyber campfire :campfire: , enjoy the comradeship of the like minded friends you have yet to meet.
God bless,Mudd
Welcome to the Gang Chris. You will find a wealth of info from these guys and gals.
Thanks all for the warm reception. I can see that I am in the right place. I am excited about next season. It seems so far away. I really wish I would have started last spring so I could join the hunt this year, but you know what they say,"wish in one hand...".
It's never too late to jump in! It's a fun journey.
Welcome!!!!
Welcome from Louisiana!!

ask all the questions you need, we all learn while you get your answers....
Chris,
I started a thread last night entitled FF String for an ML-14. Currently it is on the second page. I am trying to figure out the string length for your bow. I know you are in MN this week. Shoot me a picture of your limb tips when you get home. I need to see if your bow can handle a FF string. I know you don't know what any of this means. Will explain later.
Craig
