I have been sitting a trail that is well used for about a week straight, and seeing lots of does with a couple of spikes thrown in occasionally. This morning, I decided to change locations to see what else was out and about. I have a camera set on the trail that I have been hunting, so I checked it after my morning sit, and this is what I found..

Where he was standing would have given me a 15 yard shot; he hung around for over 10 minutes, according to the camera.
Of course, I didn't see anything that I wanted to shoot where I was this morning; looks like I will be back sitting on my old spot for a while. :knothead:
Ughh. Gorgeous buck!
What a brute Pat. You will see him.
Nice one right there. Good luck on the next hunt.
hope ya get the green light the next time out!! goodluck
Go sock it to him! :-) Sorry about the missed op, but you'll get him,
Murphy's Law strikes again .... :archer2:
That is a dandy buck, good luck get'm ....
You may be in luck since your camera says he won't be there until 11-8, that must be one of those into the future cams ... you could make a fortune with that one.
Love the profile of his head gear....hope you get a chance to drop the string on him!

Oh man, what a nice buck. What a set of brow tines. Ain't that the way it always is?
I feel for you. But, just think what you've got to look forward to. when you see another buck, do you take it or wait for the big guy? I saw a pretty decent 8 point with a doe last night(I was driving) but it didn't come even close to what you have there. Good luck with him.
:dunno: Like you said......hunting not killing. He is a real neat deer.
Nice buck! I'd shoot him.....lol
Very nice!
:banghead: , oh well, at least you know he is there. You will get him next time.
Wow Pat....he's a beauty!
Sometimes I think it's more like "Guessing" instead of hunting. Bummer. But on the bright side that's another day you can hunt.
Ouch!! :banghead:
boy do I know that feeling, I'm practically guaranteed to be at the right stand at the wrong time.
Awesome deer Pat, hope you catch up to him.
When it comes to deer stands you gotta love the one your with. It can drive you crazy wondering what's going on under stands you didn't choose to hunt.
Go get him Pat! Great buck
Nice Buck Pat, lil better than the spikes you have been seeing. Good luck!
AHHHHHHHHHHH...... Man! That hurts, I feel for ya brother! :banghead:
Never fails!
Next time he thinks he's outsmarted you, stick an arra in him :bigsmyl:
I feel your pain. Can't wait to see your redemption post with a picture of you kneeling next to that awesome buck!
Wow!! Didn't even know Murphy made a trail camera. :banghead:
amazing! Just awesome...
That just shows the good and not so good side of trail cams.
No camera= no regrets. No camera also equals no adrenaline inducing picture of a fine buck.
Had a similar experience. One of my cameras is in front of my favorite stand, and on the day I chose to rest after two weeks of hard hunting, the biggest buck I've caught on camera went right by the stand, at 7:46 while I was sitting in the cabin 200 yards away. Huge body and a rack in the 160 or better class. I love those cameras!
This morning, I sat in the spot where the trail cam was. Nothing had come by in the night. I did enjoy rattling in a small buck, but the good buck didn't show. On my way to the truck, I spied a deer in a fenceline, at least a quarter of a mile from me, but in the same place that I was yesterday. I put the glasses on him, and guess who it was?!! Yep, the buck from yesterday's trail cam, right where I was yesterday.
I made my way over there, and was way too exposed to get close enough for a shot, but I did get a picture. This buck and I are going to have a warm and fuzzy relationship before the season ends. Here is what he looks like in bright sunshine.

I think he will maintain my interest for a while.
What a beauty!! You'll cross paths soon I think. Not good for Mr. Buck :)
That's how it usually goes! Good luck, put up some pics when you get him!!! :archer:
kinda feels like this some times... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
Are you hunting off the ground centaur?
That's a great buck by the way. I hope you get him!
That is one beautiful buck. Hope you get him. I bet you will.
Yes, I am hunting on the ground. A bit more of a challenge, but lots of fun! Gotta get back after him this afternoon!
Really neat deer......best of luck...... :campfire:
Wow wow wow he's still gorgeous. Cagey sucker too... have fun!
Stick with him he will make a mistake! :campfire:
He almost screwed up this morning. I rattled and he came in to about 50 yards and hung up, along with a smaller buddy of his. Would not come in any closer, dang it. Had a little 4x4 at 5 yards later on, but didn't want to take him.
I would still be out there, but the stupid moo cows decided to camp out in the best spots, so I left, only to return this afternoon for another round.
Sometimes it seems like a gigantic game of Whack-A-Mole. You make your best evaluation based on sign, wind direction, conditions, etc., and they show up 250 yards away to the South. A few days later, conditions are identical, so you make your best set up it THAT location... only to see them 125 yards to the West!
Repeat as necessary! :scared:
But, as you referenced in your thread title, that's why they call it HUNTING, and I suppose that's why we love it.
I hope you manage to get a close encounter with that beautiful animal real soon.
He's a real "BILV" (Buck I'd Like to Ventilate!!!) :saywhat:
Nice buck! I hope you get a crack at him!
Bisch
I like that you are still seeing him, I hope you get him.
That is one beautiful buck!!! Amazing! Good hunting!
