Title: 4 fletch?
Post by: ranger 3 on November 05, 2013, 08:36:00 AM
Will fore fletch wear the rest on the edge and feathers more than three fletch?

No! And if your set up is well tuned you shouldn't be getting any rest wear at all.

Thanks Charlie, I am shooting a new Cari-bow Peregrine 49@28 and I draw 27. The arrows I am shooting are 35/55 cut to 28.25 with a 50grn insert and a 175 point. The nock is set at 5/8 and the brace is 7/14. I am getting rest wear on the outside of the beaver tail rest and don't know why.

Might be because of nock pt. height. Like Charlie said if your bow and arrow are "well tuned" the arrow should come off the bow with minimal interference.

Arrows might be a touch stiff....

I've gone to 4 fletch pretty much exclusively....5 inch.  Been doing so for 5 or 6 years.  Mostly to doing a lot of hog hunting and I want my arrow straight as can be in the shortest amount of distance....as you never know when hogs will double back, be on you in an instant, or just cover you up before you know it.

No rest wear...like Charlie said...well tuned is well tuned.

35 years of 4 fletch and can't recall any shelf rest wear.

Love four fletch. It may be subjective but the arrow seems to shoot straighter and is more stable for me. 4 X 4" LW helical. My wife, Laura, likes them better than 3 fletch, as well.

Mine seem to shoot better with 4 x 4 as well, I've gone to it exclusively over 3 x 5
