Title: Hammock Seat
Post by: ChuckC on November 01, 2013, 03:44:00 PM
Ber643 showed us a product called a Hammock seat in one of his posts, and had good things to say about it,  Anybody else have any experience with one of those ?  Your thoughts ?

I bought one this year. It is labeled as a dead ringer hammock seat, but is the same thing. I am 6'3" 250 pounds. I have hunted out of it a couple times. The only downside is u need a tree and cover in the area u want to hunt. No different than a tree stand I guess.
My only real complaint would be that I would like to see heavier straps and buckles on it. But, it hasn't failed me yet.

Chuck-- I bought one, have used it twice and it won't work for me, hurts my bad hip. They sell for $55 +$8  s&h-- you can have mine for $45 delivered to you if you want one.

Susan, Might be interested,  What do you think of the quality etc ?  is it noisy ?  Do you think my fat $$$ would break it easily ?  They look like a nice addition to what I use now.

Any pics of this thing?  I'd like to check it out as I have been kinda looking for an option to take with me when I go hog hunting.

Chuck, I have a Fanatic hammock seat on order now. I tried one in deer camp 2 weeks ago and really liked it. As pointed out, you need a tree to use it, but the woods I hunt has lots of those   :)

I can think of one particular tree that is in the perfect spot (I lean against it, while ghillie hunting on the ground).

I am thinking it would be an awesome addition to my gear up in the Colorado mountains if I am going to trail sit an area.  Flat ground is at a premium and seating there is not easy to come by.  But there are trees !

I like a tree behind me, but if I put a bucket seat down, the ground always slopes away from the tree and there is no back rest. I have trouble using seats with legs as they sink in the soft, sandy soil here.

The short test I gave the one in deer camp really solved both problems, with my back comfortably against the tree and no base requiring a flat piece of ground. The seat's owner said he fell asleep in it once.

Blade,  I hear ya.  I carry a 2' square piece of indoor outdoor carpet (like for better boats) and put it down before the chair, that allows you a lot of leeway (no sinking) in sand and in mud.  I also carry a piece, about 4" square, to put the bottom tip of my bow on, so I don't put it in the mud.

Lack of level ground is an issue for me.  I already had one cheap seat buckle as I was leaning with the chair not perfectly square on the ground.  That was fun.

I used mine in Colorado this past Sept. Worked great for me! I am 6'2" and 250# and had no problems. I had to play around with the height a bit to get it to where I  was comfortable, but once I found the "sweet spot" it worked really well. Good luck! Mike

I have used one for the last three years, and I think it is by far the best ground seat that I have used. After you how to set it up based on the slope of the ground, you will love it. Especially when you factor in the weight and ease of carry.

It works well with my 320 lb. a&& and allows me to move for the shot.

Only seat I have used this year. I've only been out 4 times fell asleep twice. Love the seat and it will work on fence posts also. Do practice shooting out of it..

I have back problems and have to have a very comfortable chair to hunt out of. My favorite it my Summit trophy chair but it is really cumbersome to carry and set up. My Hammock seat is almost as comfortable as the Summit and much easier to use. I really like the seat and can do long sits in it without back problems.
