I have a Martin Savannah with a leather rest and spacer. It is going bad and I want to replace it.
Looking at 3Rivers there are a few options. Should I go to a calf hair rest or stick with the leather. Which is better if it rains. There are several types of each just wonder what everyone thinks.
Either of them quieter than the other? Does Martin sell replacements?
Thanks,
Josh
The smooth side of velcro works very well and is cheap and readily available.
Everything wears out, eventually. You can replace the leather easily enough, if that's what you prefer. Cut your own and use contact cement. The velcro rest is a very good alternative. If you're worried about leather in the rain, you can treat it with something as simple as silicone spray.
Sticky back velcro is what I use.
I like Seal Skin... Just make sure the hair is laying in the direction the arrow will be going.
I use velcro on the shelf and calf on the side plate.like Ron said Just make sure the hair is laying in the direction the arrow will be going.
I use smooth side of velcro, very quiet and durable
Velcro...Will it change anything on how it shoots...like I'd know the difference. Will I still be able to use the leather spacer below the velcro?
I like this idea...seems cheap and would be easy to replace.

Josh yes the spacers can still be used. Ann and Earl Hoyt used the velcro on all their trad bows.
Wal-Mart carries the stuff you might have to buy a yard, It is the velcro with the peel off tape covering.

I'll give another vote for seal skin. It is as quiet as it gets, holds up in weather great, and really looks cool!
Seal skin all the way.
