Well guys I haven't been on here in a couple days but I have a good story to tell. Friday morning I finally got to go home to south MS to hunt with my dad. I live right in the swamp on the river and there is no place I would rather hunt. Before season I found an awesome pinch point that was a grassy ridge between two sloughs and I knew if the wind was right, it should be hot.
Well Friday morning the wind was right and it was cool and beautiful. I climbed up a cypress tree right in the middle of the pinch point. I was so happy to just be home and it was a beautiful morning. Squirrels were everywhere and I was watching woodducks play in the sloughs. At about 7:25 I saw some movement on one bank of the slough. I looked and it was a buck! He was casually feeding on any green vegetation he could find but was feeding away from me. After about 5 minutes he turned towards me and disappeared into the slough bed.
It seemed like forever passed but suddenly he bounded up onto the ridge and the very trail I was sitting on! My heart started racing and I turned toward him to position for a shot. He walked towards me and the direction he was headed would have gave me a 10 yard broadside shot. However, he eased off the trail and started walking directly to my tree. He stopped at about 2 feet from my tree and started to sniff the very branches I had cut to climb the tree with my climber! My bungee strap for my climber was laying close so I knew I had to do something or he would be out of there.
The shot angle wasn't ideal since he was straight down but I felt like it was my only chance. I drew back and tried to bend at my waist as much as I could and let it fly. The arrow hit its mark and he tore out. I could see the arrow sticking out of him and I knew it was a good hit. I gave him a couple of hours and called my dad. As could be expected there wasn't much blood but I went to where I last heard him. No blood anywhere. I started to feel so sick in my stomach. I made a big circle and this is what I found

I was so thankful and immediately thanked the Lord for his blessings. He isn't the biggest buck but I was so proud to get him and it capped off one of the most beautiful mornings I have had in a tree.

Here's the entry the treeshark made. Man do I love Simmons heads! Thanks for reading guys and good luck this season! I'll be holding out for a mature deer since I only have one left. Thanks!

way to go, Congrats on a nice buck and shot. How far did he go?
He probably went about 150 yards. Upon autopsy, I got one lung and also sliced the heart.
Good deer.....congrats! That broadhead left a BIG hole.
Great story and buck! Congratulations, and good luck with the next one also!
