tried out my new stand i bought from a guy at work. this is a summit viper climber. it realy grips the tree. this stand has the bar in front of you on the seat piece (not open). anyway i can shoot all around to my right but around to my left is very limited. have to lower the seat piece all the way down to get full range of shot. then i can't sit. i was thinking of doing this and getting one of those gorrila seats that you can mount to the tree. anyone done this? or have any other ideas. thanks b-dog

B-Dog, I would be careful cutting anything, make sure the structure isn't weakened.
I have a similar stand, very similar (Featherlite brand). I raise the seat cushion as high as you can get it, almost straight across the upper framework. Then lower the whole upper framework as low as you can get it and still stand up easily. You'll find that when you stand up, the stand is just above your knees and shooting isn't too bad.

B-Dog, check Summit's web site I believe you can buy a climber/seat without the bar. I have a open-shot and that's the way it came.
