I'm partial to skull mounts (European mounts), but you could put a little brass nameplate on the wooden shield with the date and vital statistics and maybe lay the arrow on the antlers?

There are many antler mounting kits available for around $15-40. I mounted a set the other day with a kit from Mountain Mike's Reproductions. I kept the skull cap intact. Will post pictures when I get home.

i did a pen and ink drawing on the forehead of one that I found dead. the drawing was a bowhunter shooting a recurve at the deer.
wish I would have taken a picture of it before I gave it to my buddies son.   it was pretty cool.

I always wanted to incorperate a skull mount into a bow rack. I just haven't found the time.

This is my attempt at mounting antlers. I'm thinking of adding a small picture frame with the hero shot between the antlers.   (http://i1362.photobucket.com/albums/r698/JimWolffe/e5c61cb4-8761-444a-b97f-9fe7f5154f51_zps5b275cb7.jpg) (http://s1362.photobucket.com/user/JimWolffe/media/e5c61cb4-8761-444a-b97f-9fe7f5154f51_zps5b275cb7.jpg.html)

If you search the auction site there are plaques that are carved into the shape of broadheads. I think that would be a great display.

I built a small column out of some old barn boards I had laying around.  I have several small racks screwed to it through the skull cap. The screw head disappears into the hair that is left over.  They are also easy to take off and swith out for bigger/newer ones, if you are like me and constantly making little nick nacks out of antler.  My two cents.
