I'm shooting a hoyt buffalo with 55 lbs limbs. I draw 28.5 with a 30 inch arrow. I've tried axis 340s and they bareshaft weak with 200 gains up front. I would go with a lighter point but i want an arrow weight i can hunt elk with. I'm planning on trying the 300 spine axis with the 75 grain inserts and a 200 grain broad head. It just seems like a really stiff arrow for a recurve. Does anybody have any experience with a buffalo shooting a really stiff arrow? Any recommendations would be appreciated.
I shoot out of a 50# Buffalo GT5575 (.400) 30" L with 145 gr points and std inserts. I don't know how that compare with your shaft though but you have a lot more weight up front than I do.
My Buffalo bows do take a slightly stiffer arrow then what I was shooting on my BW bows so yes that is possible.
I only draw 27in or so but shoot 52 and 54# on my bows so can't really help you with your spine, but bareshafting will tell you what you need.
Would believe that the following set-up should be in the ball park and may meet your needs.
Victory VForce HV300 @ ~30"s
Insert - 100 gns
Point wt. - 250 gns
FOC - ~29%
Total wt. - ~583 gns
