A lot of you have met our first grandchild Jorie, either thru threads here or at Cloverdale. Jorie got the archery bug early and started shooting a snaky osage bow I made for her when she was 3 1/2. She shot her firat 3d round at 4 and went on her first bowhunt with Gamama when she was 5. Well we had the grandkids this weekend. Jorie is now 7 and still asks to shoot her bow every time she comes over. Today was no different. So today we were out shooting in the front yard and her younger brother Caden who is now 4 and has never shown an interest comes walking out and asks if he can shoot too. I found an old York fibrglass recurve I thought he might be able to pull and gave him a lesson. He did pretty good. Guess I have to make another osage bow :bigsmyl:

Forgot to mention while eating breakfast yesterday Jorie spotted this small buck walking thru the front yard, so I took a pic of it and we called it Jorie's buck. Later 2 does and 2 fawns walked thru which she spotted also. So while we were out shooting she says "If a deer walks thru can I shoot it with my bow?" LOL."no hon, it's not hunting season yet".
I think she has the fire down below.

dang Mickey i didn't think you were any older than me and here you got grandkids loosing arrows. reckon all this trad archery is keeping you looking youthful, cept for the head that is. thanks for sharing the pics of the youngsters.

Rob, grandchildren are about the only NICE thing about getting old...well that and looking forward to retiriing some day and travelling around the country hunting all the time like Charlie Lamb ;)

Thats awesome Ferrett. My little Abbie isnt far behind Caden. Shes still shooting her little suction cup arrows/bow from 3 rivers but it shoots far enough she can hit my mounted deer and Bear on the wall. Hopefully she will be shooting her first 3d next summer or so.
Thanks for sharin. I love to see other little girls out there shootin-em-up.

Mickey,
I looked hard for a place to hunt in KY that is closer to home. I never could find anything so i guess i'll set out this season. I may buy my license if i kill out early in ohio but i doubt that will happen.
It's amazing how big Jorie has gotten in such a short amount of time.

Cool Beans, won't be long and G'pa/G'ma will be letting the grandkids shoot some of those turkeys and deer your always posting pics of.

DAno, the drawback to seeing your children/grandkids get older is knowing the same years that are accumulating for them are acculating for you as well.It shows in the mirror and in the difficulty of getting out of bed in the morning ,or after a hard day of manual labor. Still it's a fair trade off I suppose.
Randy..precious, would love to see a pic. You getting ready for bear in the rocks?
Chad...I quit hunting KY years ago. Too wierd of seasons and they shoot guns down there EVERYDAY. I know it was always good for you though. Too bad.
Are we limited to hunting behind your house this year?
Brian, we will LOVE it when that time comes.
-
Mickey,
We are limited to behind my house and straight across from my house where you sat in the ladder stand a couple years ago. The sale on my grandparent's place hasn't closed yet so it looks like i might get to hunt it the first couple weeks of season.
