man, i'm like a kid on Christmas! my part of AL opens in the morning, and I've had more fun packing and re-packing, adjusting and fiddling.
I have practiced harder than in any of the last 3 or 4 seasons. got awesome cool weather forecast for the morning, high 40's. that is downright sweet for around here! wooooo!
gonna bring along the RER Retro, some GT 7595s, with 250 grains up front, tipped with Magnus Stinger 150s. I am ready!! :archer2:

Good luck! I love that feeling, but our season has been in for over a month now. Shoot one!
I'm telling you it hasn't got here fast enough for me. I'm overly excited to get things rolling this year. I have taken a couple deer with my recurve the last two years but have really caught the trad bug this year. Have to work in the morning but I get off at 2 and will be in a tree by 345. Good luck to everyone and I hope I get to tell a great story as a lot you guys have done already.
I remember one night before opening day very vividly. I was sleeping in the spare bedroom, so my wife's snoring wouldn't keep me awake. I heard a deer coming down the hall. It was a decent 8 pointer. I was getting ready to shoot and man the buck fever was really kicking in. He stopped by my door, looked in right when I was trying to draw my bow, i just couldn't get it back, and said "what do you think you're doing?" I woke up in a sweat. Thankfully, it poured buckets all day and I didn't have to go hunting, but every deer I saw for awhile, I expected it to talk to me.

well, no luck today, but it was nice and cool, and I was in a great spot. The Retro was ready and willing, but the deer had other ideas. back at it tomorrow!
