Title: arrows
Post by: CrisW. on October 22, 2013, 08:50:00 PM
Well it seems it has been a while since I was around and when I called Milt at what used to be Wildcat Canyon and he informed me that he sold the business three years ago. This confirmed, that indeed, I have been fly fishing a whole bunch and not shooting bows and arrows.  I have been shooting again now for a couple months and I need some new arrows.
I need some suggestions on who can make me some pretty ones like Milt used to, but I don't want to cry like a baby when I break one.  I live in Western NC so anyone close to that would get my attention first.  Glad to be back around.  Looking forward to getting back in the woods a bit and going to some shoots.

If you are talking about wood arrows, I would contact snag on here. His arrows are beautiful!

Yes, I'm sorry, I shoot wood.  I have a 55# Mike Treadway so it likes them towards the 55-60 spine w the ff string.

Bill Stroupe will hook you up. He is in Dallas down below Hickory and makes as fine an arrow as anyone.

I personally like Snag for surewoods and Elite for cedars.

I was blown away when I grain tested My last dozen of Surewoods from snag and 9 out of 12 hit the same exact grain weight! the other 3 where within 3 grains and these arrows shoot like carbons.  surewoods are tough! and if you like a heavier than cedar and a lot tougher than cedar arrow these are them.

I usually make my own but recently was pressed for time & ordered some from  North West Archery (http://www.nwarchery.com/custom-deluxe-wood-arrows/)  & was very impressed with the quality. They shoot every bit as good as they look!

Not the best picture taken with my iPhone but those are Douglas Fir shafts.
