Title: Badger Broadhead Review.....with pics
Post by: Onestringer on October 21, 2013, 05:18:00 PM
I like to play around with things and ended up ordering some Badger broadheads.  I liked the looks of them from their web so I ordered some up.  In short they are a tough little head.  Normally by this time during the season I have a few deer on the ground, but for some reason this year I have not dropped the string.  It seems almost every time I go out I end up passing on deer.  I worked very hard putting 2 food plots in and when I sit there and see deer I am just happy all the hard work is paying off.

Now to the broadheads.  Sunday morning I was setting on a hard wood ridge.  There ended up being several turkeys roosted around.  In fact there were multiple gobbles, someone must have shown the turkeys the wrong calender.  Next thing I know one gobbles not 30 yards way,  well now this could get interesting.  It lights down not 20 yards away and immediately goes into full strut pushing two other birds around.  As it walks behind a tree I come to full draw and as it passes its stops just barely giving me enough room to slide an arrow right past it.  I think, I can make that shot easy......nope.  The picture speaks for itself, now this tree is not one of those pansy soft woods, this is a real Missouri Oak...black oak I think.  Not a scratch on the broad head.  After the morning hunt I touched it up and put it back in my quiver.

As I said before I normally don't pass too many shots up, but this year for some reason I have.  My son has been after me to shoot him a deer, so for the past two weekends, my mission was to get him a deer, unfortunately all I have had in range were small bucks.  Which brings me to last night I see a deer walking up behind me and low and behold its a doe.  She come right to the base of my tree and sniffs my pull up rope.  As she is standing there I have a mental debate about trying to ease my phone out and clicking a pic, just as it starts vibrating in my pocket.  The doe is oblivious to everything that is taking place 18ft above her.  She eventually works her way around me and offers a good shot at which time she runs down the hill with my arrow hanging out the sweet spot.  Turns out it was Mindy texting me.  Since this deer was for Riley, Mindy and the kids come out to help track.  With their help we found the doe in no time.  However once we found it my son insisted this deer was for his sister because he wanted a buck......

Oh yea, the broad head worked perfectly.
