I am looking a buying a new bow and have been wondering if there are benefits to shooting a forward grip bow such as a timberghost, blackwidow, or kempf.
Thanks,
Kevin
that shape is suppose to be more forgiving.
there is less movement and twist in your form as the axis line of the bow is behind your grip as opposed to in front of your grip.
Chuck adams once said that this was the only kind of bow he wanted to shoot as it was very forgiving where as having the axels forward of the grip was to difficult for him to shoot well in hunting conditions. same principal applies to the bows you are talking about.
It will be a personell thing in regard to weather you will like it more. Some will prefer it and some will not.Perhaps you will like it more?
They do seem to point well and get on target quickly for a quick shot and I think you can get by with a slighlty shorter length bow on a forward style grip. Some of them are designed really well as a short bow that handles very well even at longer draws
I have had quite a few and like them.Shrews,Widows,RER Arroyo,Great Plains Kiowa,Big Jim Thunderchild and others.I shoot them well and have 0 complaints.I shoot other bows just as well that are not that style.
I am a bit nuetral. But think its an excellant design and you may very well find you prefer it.
I know some who prefer a grip thats more inline with the limbs fadeouts.
I have owned 2 of them. They are nice to shoot. Easier pointability. Hill Country Harvest Master and my current bow Heart Land Bow. You will NOT go wrong with a Heart Land Bow.
You will need to shoot quite a few. With some designs you may not like the compromise, go to a show or have a bowyer send you a trial bow.
