Title: it put a smile on my face...
Post by: edge2009 on October 19, 2013, 08:50:00 AM
When I got down to Pick up my arrow that I just slung at a nanny goat... And found some hair down the shaft and feathers. Its my first year trad and I've missed a 4 point , shot a hog a little high and couldn't find it  :(

And now just over a does back.... Its part of the hunt though! I couldn't help but smile despite I don't have back strap. Lol

Maybe better check that nanny's trail a little.  Hair doesn't stick well to the shaft and feathers unless there was some blood or other body juices to make it stick there.

Simple fix. . . aim lower.    :knothead:   Keep at it.

Haha thanks chuck, I was hoping I didn't have to reveal this minor detail.... But she was 5 yards away right under my stand. I watched it zip right over here inner shoulder. Then had to watch her walk around me for 5 minutes because I only have one arrow with a Broadhead left....lol, I won't clue you in on why that is either.

She's good to go for another day. I keep telling myself low... The buck I missed went right over his back as well at 20 yards. My windage is real good. Its just my dang elevation I'm struggling.

Remember too that deer often react and "jump the string" or drop down, sometimes a lot.  Sounds like you got to watch her for a while after the shot.

Keep at it.  It will happen.

Thanks chuck, thanks brad.

Its going to take more then a season of misses for me to give up, selling my wheelie bow was for a reason! I'm hooked regardless of the lows.

Sometimes those shots close in under the stand are the toughest

Been there done that but  the worm will turn . This has been the worse year ever for me getting busted in the stand . Im taking a week or two off so things can calm down and do some shooting  here at the house. That my not be a bad idea for you just to take a week off to clear your mind and do some good target pratice from eleveated positions.

Thanks guys. I go back on shift starting Monday for 7 days straight. Ill be shooting in between calls and possibly sneak a later afternoon hunt in by Friday. I can honestly say.... I will not be buying anything that has wheels and slings arrows.

I love this stuff
