Today, I was in the darkest of moods. For whatever reason a little funk has taken me back over after my elk hunt. Losing an animal is never easy...it happens. But to be honest I am not over it. It awakens me like a thief in the night. I give in and let my mind go there again,and again the same result. Last night was one of those nights...
Somehow a ray of sunshine appeared today in the form of a square box. I saw the name on the box and knew instantly what it was. Mood lifted, smile and excitement dialed up...

So if you don't know what this is read the St Jude's Auction thread under Delaneys Poundcake. A young lady and a very proud poppa (Duckbutt to us) auctions off the most delicious, mojo filled poundcake you have ever eaten. I was lucky enough to be one of the five this year.

So this year half the cake gets saved for a special day. On Dec 7th I am running a half marathon in Memphis with my team, Team Amelia for Life. Ms. Amelia passed on last year and her parents are best friends to my godchild's parents. We formed a team last year and decided we would run in her memory. I am out of shape and need to train. My funk has kept me from my work, but after getting my poundcake I got work to do! My team will have poundcake the day of the race! So today think about what Tradgang does at auction time and what Ms Delaney does to help the kids...and think what you could do!
My first piece went to my wife, a nurse, a hard worker who along with me, did rotations at St Jude. We have healthy kids but we never forget the bravery of the kids of St Jude. She puts up with my hunting, my pouting, my moods, so she gets the first piece. But today she doesn't have to worry about a bad mood...today I have POUNDCAKE!
