Title: 46 rail clothing?
Post by: babs on October 16, 2013, 02:04:00 AM
I was wondering if anybody uses this clothing and how do they like it? I was wondering how it compares to sitka or first lite clothing. I'm looking for some new gear and want something to be used in temps ranging from 40-80 I have wool for the colder weather. Right now I use scent loc clothing and its nice but doesn't breathe well and the camo isn't my favorite. I'm gonna buy some merino wool for my base layer but need camo for my outer layer. I mainly treestand hunt and sit in ground blind occasionally.  Whats my best options thanks gang.

I have several pieces of KUIU gear.  Great stuff and is in the same
price range as the ones you mentioned. I have all the base layers and they have held up well over the last few years and served me well on elk hunts and deer hunts.

Babs, I helped develop the 46 Rail line. I used it extensively this fall on 3 hunts (so far). My hunts were in temps from the 60's to over 100 degrees. The fabrics breath well and the stretch and cut is unmatched. I did just talk with a buddy that just got back from South Dakota hunting. He was there when the blizzard hit, hunting in temps from the 30's on up. He said with a base layer, it performed really well for him. It is quite different from both Sitka and Kuiu. You might ask Cade for his opinion, he has been wearing it for whitetails this fall.

NittanyRider, the name doesn't really have any significance. The style of the line has a lot of influence from the motocross industry. Like hunters, they have to move into all sorts of contorted positions and having your clothing bind up on you restricts movement and consumes excess energy. The pants have 10 stretch panels built into them to eliminate any binding.
