My wife and I have raised three daughters, all of whom hunt. My oldest is now married and a couple years ago her husband asked about learning to shoot a bow. We gave him the option of a wheel bow and a recurve. He chose the recurve and learned quickly. Two years ago at Christmas we gave him one of my old Bear Grizzly's. He's shot it diligently and asked if he could hunt this fall. We've taken him to shoots, out to the woods multiple times, and made him read our old Bowhunter Education manuals.
His parents are very good people, they just were not "hunting" people, so he's never hunted anything in his life. I explained that he should learn to enjoy all the little things in the woods, not just looking for deer. So after his first sit this evening I was glad to hear him talk excitedly about the owls, the squirrells and the young deer that bedded down near his stand, not just the adult deer he saw.
Everybody, meet Andrew...

Welcome, bow hunter in the making!!!!
Welcome from Alaska, always great to see someone completely new too hunting and bow shooting become dedicated and like you said not only go for the"big one" but also notice all the small things that go on in the woods while your out there.
Hey Andrew.
There is a whole nuther world out there that non-hunters rarely see, not because they are not worthy, but mostly because they do not look, and when they look, they do not see, and when they see, they do not absorb. Nobody ever taught them to look, and how.
Don't miss out on "the rest of the story"
