I like to travel light. So my hunting kit is designed to allow me to hunt with a very small fanny pack. In it is this knife that can't weigh more than a couple of ounces. It is made of D-2 tool steel and is wicked sharp. Dresses pigs or deer and just needs a few swipes on a stone to have it razor sharp again.. It came from a knife makers supply. There are several on the internet.
This one cost about $25.. I chose not to put scales on it to keep it light and very easy to clean. I have a few different blade shapes, all of them are outstanding. Check it out.

Good idea, Pat. That one will do the trick.
If your going to use a kit blade, BE SURE that it is as Pat described, D2 or another good quality steel, properly heat treated. Many of the kits have import blades, mystery steel, mystery h/t etc... do proper research.
After watching a Native friend take apart five caribou with a fifteen dollar knife my views changed...pretty is as pretty does

I have a small neck knife that I keep in a small pack as well. I added a small loop of orange paracord so if I set it down in the dark it wouldn't disappear in the leaves or brush. X2 on the steel also. Make sure it's quality steel.

Yep nice knife.
I also like skeleton knives. (No handles or scales).
Good heat treated carbon like 1095 is easy to sharpen super durable and great steel.
I love esee knives.
most of my knives are D2! Really hold an edge!
Maybe I missed it but what company did you get this from? Thanks
Interesting...thank you for sharing.
WHAT? No dead animals?
