Title: New Bear in the house
Post by: Paul_R on October 11, 2013, 11:13:00 AM
I have a thing for short recurves. I've been eyeballing the Super Mag 48 for a while and Big Jim had a LH 40# on sale so I pulled the trigger. Thanks Jim!

I gotta say I really like this bow. Granted I have a 26.5 - 27" draw but this little thing is just smooth as silk. And no louder than any other recurve. It shoots (and feels) very much like my Two Tracks Ambush and at 40# I can shoot it all day long. This will be my primary bowfishing rig with the Ambush in reserve for the big boys.

Sounds like fun!

Love the look of the KMag and Super Mags. I suspect one will end up on my bow rack sooner or later.

congrats!

Yeah I was worried about the grip. It didn't look like it could possibly balance but it does and it puts my wrist right where I like it. The only thing I would change is I would round the edges more at the back side of the top of the grip.

With a 26" Draw, I'm definitely a supermag fan. I have a 50lber , thats my go to.  I also really like the lighter weight as opposed to to some of the heavier bears.

I just got a second hand 60# supermag 48 a few days ago.  From the looks of it, it was made in the 90's or early 2000's.  Its really a neat little bow, although the extremely high grip takes some getting used to. On the plus side, grips like that tend to add an inch or more to my draw length when compared to the low to medium grips on my other bows. I can say with certainty that the ulta short amo makes any error in form really noticable; Its not a very forgiving design.  I am  very happy with the bow in general. Its a perfect bow to accompany me in the thickest dark timber next September.

Great little bows! Perfect for airial targets, as well as tree stands and ground blinds! I had a 1969 that came part on me. Felt like I lost my best friend! Took the coin out and sent it to be with it's creator. I'll have another before turkey season!

Glad you like it. I love the looks of the SuperMag, but I drew one at Gander Mountain a while back, and it HIT THE WALL about an inch before I hit anchor!

Longer draws aren't always a blessing!
