Last evening I set up along a grassy logging road that leads to one the small fields that I love to hunt. The road is lined with beech trees. Every year there are multiple scrapes and rubs all along it. About 5:50 last night I had a 6 pt feeding along the road toward me. He got to about 25 yards, and I heard another deer coming. I peeked over my shoulder to see this buck walking straight toward the 6 pt.
They proceeded to spar right there beside me for 3 or 4 minutes. The 8 pt was slowly pushing the 6 pt into my shooting lane. I could have shot the smaller buck while they were locked together, but waited for the bigger buck to give me a clear shot.
The shot was 18 yards. I hit him back toward the last couple ribs. I knew he was dead, but I didn't want to push him. I started searching this morning (no blood at all). He made it about 200 yards.
I shot him with my DAS riser w/ Dryad ACS RC limbs (43@27). I absolutely love this setup!! :bigsmyl:
I will get some better pics this afternoon. Time to go to work.

Awesome Allen. You've got us pumped up for round two. :clapper:
I hate it when that "No Blood" arrises. Great recovery!
Nice work brother and what an experience that must have been. You will remember that every time you look at his rack in the coming years.
Very nice buck! I have a similar bow set up, DAS / Dryad, got to love it.
Good buck; all these deer taken with traditional gear really makes me want to start now!
Very nice!
Congratulations on a nice VA buck.
I'm just down the road from you in Charlottesville. Yesterday and today have been nice and cool after the hot opener on Saturday. I hope to be able to get out this weekend.
Thanks guys. I just picked up this bow a couple weeks ago from a fellow TGer. My arm is still bothering me from an injury over a year ago. I decided to drop some draw weight to give it a rest.
I shot him with a Carbon Express shaft and a Thunderhead 125 broadhead.
Great buck, Congrats!!! I shot a lot of deer years ago with a thunderhead, they are a good head.
Congrats, great buck.
Tom

Ken, I was just telling my kids about "that" buck again two nights ago when we were looking through one of the BSC catalogs with both our pics in it.

Mike, I just got these limbs from a friend of mine a couple weeks ago. They are hands down one of the top two or three sets of limbs that I have ever shot!! They are much more quiet than I expected. Most of the high end Korean ILF (Olympic type) are too noisy for my tastes when it comes to hunting.
Congrats!
WOW....ANOTHER great buck!
Nice Allen!!
I will be forever grateful to you Allen :notworthy:
Good Deal! Are y'all getting the rain that we are here in Richmond?...Pouring right now. It should be out of here by Saturday. Congrats.. Nice Buck! Jason

Yep, it was just starting to rain good here when my kids and I were taking the pics about 4:00. I was planning to hunt again Thursday, may have to wait out the rain. :banghead:
Well done Allen!

I haven't measured it, but I would guess 15-16" inside.
Great job AS!

Bill, I got an exit hole, but it wasn't a complete passthrough. Thanks again for a great bow! You know I love the DAS stuff.
By the way, I haven't aged him, but I'm guessing
