I'd like to give building my own tabs a try and would like to know where I can get material for making them.
I've tried to find cordovan leather with little success.
Does anyone know where I could find super leather?
Or what super leather really is?
What is the backing made out of?
did you try tandy leather?
Might try here

I looked at tandy but I'm just not sure what type of leather to get
Look up Tannery row in Chicago, take a heart pill I think they charge $60 for a square foot of Cordovan.
I have been making tabs for 20 years from "oiled utility sides" from Tandy. I prefer a single layer tab so I can feel the string, and this leather is thick enough to offer protection without being too thick. Tandy will send you a scrap, if not send me a pm and I'll send you a piece to cut a tab from. My current personal tab is over ten years old. I oil it several times a year, it is about indestructible. Over the years it is now slick like cordovan.
Try Springfield Leather (http://springfieldleather.com)
I contacted Tannery Row about Horween's Shell Cordovan and they were all sold out for 2013, said to contact them early 2014.
screaming eagle has great cordivan tabs..
I bought some horween from Bateman archery to redo my cavalier tab. He picked a few pieces and you can talk to him about thickness. Real reasonable price.
